Universal studios the day BEFORE Harry Potter world opens?

We were planning to spend a few days in Disneyland over spring break but wanted to take the kids for one day to Universal for a change of pace. It turns out they are opening the Harry Potter Wizarding World thing that week.

I would NEVER brave the crowds on the first day of a new popular land, but I was wondering if going the day before the world opens would be smart or stupid. It occurs to me that the park might be completely empty. I mean, after all, why go then when you could go the next day and see the new world? Or am I completely wrong?

A lot of the time Universal Studios Hollywood gives you a free day when you buy 1 day tickets. So I don't think it will be empty, but definitely not as busy as opening day.

I was wondering the same thing for April 2nd. We are planning on the VIP tour just in case its crowded so we wont have to wait in the lines

Many people expect them to soft open before the official opening day, but it's also possible that they would close the area down the day before to prepare for the big event.

Either of there, or a media preview, or paid access like Disney did the week before for Cars Land or close the entire park the day before like Disney also did for Cars Land. Even if they just close the area around HP for the day, that won't stop people from coming just to try to see what's visible. It's really too soon to speculate.

I doubt the park will be completely empty. All the "insiders" know (or suspect) that the area and
ride will be open on the day before the official opening day.

So maybe a couple of days before would be a better idea for lesser crowds?

It's usually pretty crowded for Spring Break. They've stopped the buy a day, get a year promotion, so that may cut down some, but the new additions to the park will probably attract more people to purchase the higher level passes, too.
