Universal Studios security screening vs Disney security screening

This may have come up before but I couldn't find anything on it. On our recent trip we went to the Universal parks as well as the Disney parks and we found the screening at Universal to be so much more efficient and quick. Everyone and their bags go through airport type screening. I would think this would be more accurate and less invasive than randomly pawing through purses, as well as requiring less bag-checking personnel. Any ideas why Disney hasn't implemented the Universal system? And as a frequent park hopper who carries a large bag to hold shopping purchases, can I say that I REEEAAALLY miss Express Transportation Bus service?

I agree. I thought Universal’s security process to be more efficient. Not sure why Disney doesn’t implement it. Maybe the cost of doing at 4 parks (plus two entrances at Epcot) costs too much. :confused3

I would imagine the answer is that there are way more people at Disney (i.e. Cost and efficiency). We wee at USO last week and found getting through security was easy peasy and the team members were friendly and quick. There were also nowhere near the number of people we see at the Disney parks.

I haven't been to DL in around a year or so, but have been to USH many times this last year. USH has several bag check lines, x-ray scanners so they only actually need a person to look inside bags that are questionable, and a body scanner for each line. Also at least 3 employees were working each line to expedite the process.

When we were doing bag check at DL they had less bag check lines, no x-ray scanner so one person did all the checks on all the bags (which takes longer), and only one body scanner that they randomly select guests for.

A HUGE pet peeve of mine at DL bag check is people who don't bother to get their bags open and ready until it's their turn. We always have our bags out from under the stroller, unzipped, and ready to be checked by the time we get to the cast member. If everyone would do that it would speed up the process immensely.
