How are the crowds on July 4th weekend at Universal Hollywood? I am thinking about doing Universal July 5th or 6th depending on when my flight arrives. Really want to see Despicable Me and Transformers before starting my ABD experience. Is it so crowded that they will turn people away?

Last year I went to a champagne brunch at Saddle Ranch on the Sunday after the 4th, which is across from the Universal entrance. There were switchback lines both to buy tickets and to get into the park. We watched people stand in the blazing sun, for 40 minutes or more just to get into the park. I was in the shade with a bottomless mimosa and I was still miserable. Now, personally, I wouldn't want to do that, but if it were a vacation for me I guess I would feel differently. There's a lot of construction going on at USH right now for HP World, I don't know whether that will help or hurt crowds, but definitely check to make sure the parts of the park you want to see will be accessible when you're there.

It's going to be packed.

The past two summers and on days they are expecting high crowds, they have opened Transformers 30 mins prior to park opening. I think Universal will do the same with Minion Mayhem. So get to the park at least 1hour prior to opening and make a beeline to Minion Mayhem then head to the Lower Lot for Transformers.

Transformers, Mummy, and Jurassic Park usually have 15min or less waits during the first hour of park operation. Also all three of those rides have Single Rider lines.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but what is going on with HP World? I didn't realize they were building one in California. When do you think it will be done?

^ Wizarding World of Harry Potter is expected to open in Spring 2016.

Currently, they are building the foundations and strengthening the land.

Everything in red has been demolished to make way for Harry Potter.
