We have only briefly visited USH(few hours). We are considering a longer visit.

My son is skidish (at best) with rollercoaster rides. Can someone give me a clue about some of the rides? (his favorites at DLR are Star Tours, Soaring, Grizzly River Rapids)

Does Shrek compare to any of the any of the 3 D shows at DLR?

How about Back to the Future --- does it compare to say, Star Tours?

Any info for a skiddish 10 year old kid would be helpful.

Also, do any of the hotels offer front of the line priveliges like at US/IOA? Or is it just a separate FOTL pass.

Thanks in advance.

My son was 10 the last time we went to Universal Studios in March 2002. At the time, he did not like roller coasters either.

The only attraction he would not ride was Jurassic Park. Back to the Future is like Star Tours. I think there is more movement because the vehicles only hold 6/8 riders. Shrek was not open at the time, but I always told my kids to close their eyes if they became scared during any 4-D shows.

Because the hotels are not owned by Universal, I don't think they offer the FOTL tickets. The front of the line pass offered at the gates are limited so try to get there as early as possible or purchase them on line here.

Have a great time.

Back to the Future has a lot more movement and is rougher than Star Tours. I love Jurassic Park, though if I could actually see the drop (it's covered) I might not go on it (I love roller coasters, but big, steep drops on water rides tend to freak me out a bit). I haven't done Shrek because 3-D tends to hurt my eyes.

Shrek is not scary or intimidating. The theater and seats are very nice and comfortable and it compares very favorably with the shows at DL. Its's as good if not better. I cannot stand roller coasters and on Back to the Future I had to close my eyes. THe seat jerked some but if he wants to try it, just tell him to close his eyes if he doesn't like it. I have not been on Star Tours so can't compare it. I did take note that the drop at the end of Jurrasic Park is longer than the one on Splash Mountain so I didn't go on it. If the haunted house type scenario scares him, skip The Mummy attraction toward the front of the park. I'm not talking about a ride, but a type of walk-through--people will jump out toward you, etc. I was kind of apprehensive about Terminator 3-D but it was not bad--a little loud at times but not super scary.

The Mummy attraction is no more. It's becoming an attraction based on the upcoming Van Helsing movie this spring. But, this summer (possibly May) there will be a Mummy coaster.
