Universal Studios Concerts

The concert will be at least an hour...probably a little longer but if your son wants to see them up close, you will need to get there no later than 4pm. It's standing room only at the band shell and the crowd will start to stake out their spots early. The parade starts around 8:30pm but if you're next to the stage, you can't see it very well. If he waits until the parade starts to get a spot for the concert, he will be a long way from the stage. The place is going to be packed this weekend!

I think my daughter and I will enjoy the parade and he will grab his spot. We are planning on going to US around 10am, maybe do some rides, we'll pick a spot to meet after the concert is over. Is it Ok to grab a spot for the parade about 45 minutes before? Do you have a favorite spot to see it from?

The parade will be one hour before the concert. It will be so busy you wont be able to move. If he wants to get close to the stage he should line up at least by three. Walk by the music area and you'll see people lining up. Trust me when I say he will want to line up early and six hours for this one is not an exaggeration. If you can't get too close there will be screens and speakers throughout the park. Good luck and may the crowds have mercy on your soles.

Thanks for the info, we are WDW veterans and have done 4th of July, NYE, SWW so we know all about crowds, I'll let him know and he can make a decision if he wants to see it up close or by a big screen...knowing my son he'll probably wait hours to see this up close, we have been to SWW and have arrived at 4am to get Fp's for celebrities so he's prepared. I'll report back.

Sure...you can grab a spot for the parade. There are many good viewing spots but I always like to watch it from across the street from Mel's Drive-in...but anywhere would be good really. Just make sure you don't let someone come in at the last minute and take your spot.

As planned we went to US on Saturday Apr. 23,arrived around 10:00, the kids did RRR only 15 minutes, then we did Mummy and Twister with no wait. I did notice that people were already lining up for the concert, my son didn't really want to be close up, just able to see and hear the band, so we toured the rest of the park. Disaster was down so we did MIB, ET and then my daughter played in the Curious George water/ball park. Saw Beetlejuice (I love this show). My son then got a spot around 7pm right next to the Twister gift shop, he could see the big screen and the stage. My daughter and I sat down in the outdoor area of the pharmacy that sells ice cream (forgot the name) to see the parade. People just go crazy over plastic beads my daughter got a couple but I didn't let her get right next to the curb because people (mostly adults) were snatching the beads like they were made of gold or something. Went back to MIB (my daughters favorite ride) andthen went to wait for my son. It was really packed, there were people inside the Monster Cafe watching the concert thru the open doors. My son loved the concert, he said they played all of his favorite songs. We all had fun. Thanks for everyones advice

Do the concerts have a large effect on IoA crowds too? I have one day at Universal, and of course it is May 14th. I was planning on going to the studios in the morning then heading over to IoA early afternoon. I want to ride Spider-Man but am mostly there to see the Wizarding World. I'm hoping the concert at 7 at the studios might mean less crowds at Harry Potter around that time, does anyone have any experience with this and can tell me what to expect? Thanks in advance.

The concert crowds don't usually have an affect on IOA crowds since it's in a different park. If you're going to the concert, you would want to go to IOA in the morning and then to the Studios by mid to late afternoon. The concerts bring in large crowds to the Studios so be prepared for lots and lots of people. If you don't care about the concert, stick to your plan of the Studios in the morning and then head to IOA.

Just released this afternoon. What does everyone think of the concert line up? Keep in mind that Big Time Rush is also scheduled to appear, and I'm hearing rumors of Victoria Justice tagging along....nothing positive on that though.

Victoria, along with the full casts of Nickelodeon's Victorious and iCarly are headed to Memphis, TN this coming Saturday, May 14th for a charity event benefiting St. Jude's Research Hospital.

Thanks for the response. I definitely don't care about the concert, so I'll stick to my plan. It's nice to know that it shouldn't really affect IoA crowds, I was a bit worried it was going to be mobbed because of the concert.

The performers are probably asked to tone down their show for theme park audiences. I don't like rap music so I can't speak from first hand experience. When Kid Rock was here a few years ago, his show wasn't very family friendly and I doubt Universal will have him here again. There was an article in the paper and apparently quite a few parents were upset with him.
