Universal Studios Chat: Volume 5

You done good Selina:) Now we just have to wait for the "image pending approval".

That was just a practise....sorry it's not Universal....all the ones of me were with other friends who might not want to be on the net. But now I hope to be able to post some really good Jessica ones for the boys and Wolverines for the girls!!!:D

That one is in the Dis Photo gallery under "Selina" if anyone wants a look.

loved the picture in your post Selina! ;) ;) ;)

Anyway! I just got back from Universal Studios...probably the most disappointing trip I've had BUT, it wasn't too bad :)

PROS:
*Headed over towards the direction of MIB and ran into DM...said "hi." :)
*Went on MIB and the first time got 979,025 points!!!
*Went on again and got 993,100 points!!!
*Went on yet again and got...YEP! My first 999,999!!!
*Went on BTTF
*Enjoyed the atmosphere (just being there is great...hehe)
*Talked with the Ghostbusters a little bit (maybe 5 minutes because they were busy)
*Ghostbusters Show funny as usual.
*Horror Makeup Show hilarious! Saw a guy I've only seen once before...definitely a favorite of mine...VERY funny...I think the "volunteer" had seen the show before because she hammed it up big time!!
*Ate at Hard Rock Cafe
*Met a fellow DISer (who forgot to introduce herself!!! I was planning on saying "hi" to a couple people...now, tell me, who was it that say "hi" to me today??? lol! It was nice meeting you!)

CONS:
*Absolutely TERRIBLE weather!!!!
*Caused 3 out of 4 Ghostbusters Shows to CANCEL!!!
*Which means I wasted fours of time waiting for the GB Show when I could have done something else! Oh well!
*My favorite GB wasn't there (actally, should that be listed under "PROS" since most of the shows were cancelled?
*Didn't take pictures...it was a nasty day...not worth wasting film on...
*3 out of 4 Ghostbusters Shows cancelled...oh...I already said that...that was a HUGE bummer...but I'd rather have a meet and greet with the guys than see the show (if I may be honest), but I only talked to them once today...and for my cousin's sake...which was funny though...will tell about that later)

Fly Fly,

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about some of the cons!!!!

However a bad day at Universal is better than no day at Universal!!!! ;)

yeah...just too bad I couldn't spend more time drooling over the Ghostbusters. ;) hehe!

But, again, as I said, I enjoy the atmosphere and just being there is great. I spent nearly 90 minutes (from like 9:45 until 11:15) just sitting in the bench area near Mel's diner. Just sat and relaxed and took everything in. :) It was interrupted a few times with pouring rain and some occassional thunder, but still pleasant.

The rain was terrible...there was NO rain chance for the morning hours (we checked Weather Channel's website before we left) and yet, it rained. Barely was there any blue sky to be seen. Very cloudy and some terrible storms that just passed us (we were lucky to get mostly just rain).

I think the thing that irks me is, they wait until the last minute to cancel a GB Show. They are terrible with this aspect of it!! I mean, minutes before the show (the usually do this at the 5-minute mark, instead of the voice saying "Ladies and gentlemen, in just 5 minutes..." and you hear "We're sorry. But due to the inclimate weather and for the safety of our performers..." Yadda Yadda Yadda.

THOUGH, I have expected the biggest delay in them cancelling a show today. They went through all the music that is before the show (even passed the 5-minute mark). They even cut off the music and Beetlejuice said his first lines (Oppsie-daisy! My bad! Muahahahaha!) and even started the New York Library segment...and even had the introduction...(Ladies and gentlemen...boys and girls...welcome to the great frightway...) and right then it cuts off saying... "We're sorry. But due to the inclimate weather and for the safety of our performers the remaining show has been cancelled."

AHHHHHHH!!!! What a terrible way to end the day. BUT, like 5 to 10 minutes after they cancelled the last show, they had the worst storm that day...it didn't even really have any warning...it just started pouring with lightning and high wind gusts...absolutely terrible!!

But, I'll post the funny thing later (about my cousin). :)

OK...well, this is "later" enough for me. ;)

It's not much, but was seriously funny (at least it was funny when it happened (dunno if it's one of those "had to be there " things...lol).

The second show was cancelled and by then I was fustrated...I still didn't get my Ghostbuster Fix...then I heard the announcement that the Ghostbusters were on their way for a meet and greet. I decided to stick around. Lots of people stayed for the meet and greet (in contrast to the time the show was cancelled on September 18). I waited and let people go in front of me because I go often and can always talk to them another time and if I'm lucky and they are still there when it's my turn, then cool. Well, the guy in green sees me in between getting his picture taken with different people. (The guy in green isn't the one I saw September 18 and 19 but the one I saw the Sunday before, I believe, just so you know...this is one I see most often anyway). Well he looks over at me and says, "Good to see you again!" I say "Thanks" and he asks what I was doing here today (well, I don't remember how he worded it...how I typed it makes it sound like "Why are you here?!" instead of how he meant...lol). I replied "Just enjoying the atmosphere...just being here." Cool. I leave them alone because they still have like 5 or 6 groups...at least...that wanted pictures and autographs.

Time was ticking and FINALLY I went up and handed my mini spiral notebook to the guy in the cowboy hat and said, "My cousin wants your autograph...she thinks you're really cute!!"

The guy in orange (YES, Selina...your favorite guy...sorry I couldn't take any pictures!! :() says, "Oh I see how it is!!"

And they joked around saying things like, "We don't do anything for you, do we? We don't drive you around (guy in green drives the GB car...LOL)...we don't fluff your pillows..." etc. It was really funny.

Then the guy in green asks if my cousin works or goes to school. I told him she goes to school and he says (jokingly), "Well let's go to the classes and support everyone BUT her!!" LOL!!!

He said a few more comments about the situation and he climbed back into the car in the driver's seat. I went up to the passenger window (which was down) and said, "OK I'll tell her you guys said 'hi!'" He looks at me and rolls his eyes and said "oh yeah..." hehe!!

I then decided to walk away, as I was going to meet my parents for the Horror Makeup Show, and the car drivers by. The guy in green gets on the car speaker and says, "I'd like to thank everyone for coming out....except for that one girl's cousin!" He points at me. I shout back, "Hey!!!!" And Beetlejuice turns (he's hanging off the back for some reason...the Beetlejuice character is usually in passenger seat...) and says "How do you like this??" (or something like that) And does some sort of movement that was pretty funny...

So yeah, it wasn't much, but it was funny. :p

Hi fly fly...just a quickie....I am sorry the weather played up for your trip....but how wonderful chatting with orange guy no.2.......Mmmmmmmm.....I should have given you my email address to give to him!!!!!! ;) and it's lovely reading all that happened too. I expect you are really looking forward to your next visit very soon when you'll meet SH....give him a hug from me!:) Do you know...you are sooooo lucky living so near to all the action......how I wish I did too!

P.s. Thanks for the comment you wrote on my gallery pic .....my daughter and son are really looking forward to meeting you.

Hiya........only on for a few mins...then will be on for longer later.....what do you think of the "boys" thread??? I have a few really and I mean really sexy pics..but wondered if I would get banned if I posted them hee hee. (it's the juicy bits of certain films hee hee)..

which thread? I don't remember seeing any of those pics...lol...are they still there? let me know and I'll have to check them out to know whether or not you're asking for trouble...though I'm sure Barry would either remove them or say something before he'd get you banned.

UGHHHH!! Air conditioning just broke!! It's over 90 degrees in our house right now!! YUCK!!

This isn't fun at all...I'm really hot, and my secret stash of chocolate is melting!

:p

Woohoo!!!

My mom just told me that someone is wanting to hire me to videotape and take pictures at a wedding! She's going to PAY me too (and not just a little bit...she said that since I can do a professional job, she'll pay for the quality!!). I'm so excited! I just need to REALLY figure out about my camcorder now!!

And the broken AC is NOT going to help in coming up with the money for the camcorder! Wow...guess I need to get some more babysitting jobs! The wedding is November 1...so I don't have long!

Wish me luck with all this...and coming up with the money for this and future Universal trips...LOL :)

Fly Fly, your story is hilarious!!!! They really do know you.

I am sorry to hear about your airconditioning. I had that happen 4 months ago and it was bad!!!!

hope you get it fixed soon!

This is the first chance I’ve had to check the boards all week, but it looks like you had some interesting conversations while I was gone! Here are some random responses to some of the posts in this thread over the past week.

--

I finally got DSL a year ago, after many many years of dial-up. I’ve been online since I was 10, back in 1986 (anybody remember Q-Link?) when my family had an ultra-fast 300 baud modem! How far we’ve come. :) I love my DSL; I don’t think I could go back to dial-up. I used to get so frustrated with how slow things loaded, especially after using DSL at my parents’ place when I visited them.

Speaking of which, am I the only one who thinks the DIS boards are often very slow? It always seems like it takes threads forever to load. I don’t have that problem anywhere else. I could probably read the boards in half the time, or less, if the threads loaded faster. On a busy day (like all of last week was), this is the first place I pick to skip because it’s the most time consuming.

FlyFly, I used to love the Apogee games! Commander Keen was probably my favorite. I also really liked Cosmo and Halloween Harry and Hocus Pocus and Paganitzu and all the others. I tried Doom for all of about 2 minutes, but found the satanic images and the darkness and blood and gore to be a bit much. I actually started losing interest in the games when they moved away from platform games and started doing everything in 3D. The 3D games were fun at first, but they didn’t have as much lasting appeal for me and it seemed like they started focusing more on “realism” but had fewer puzzles so I lost interest.

And speaking of games.. This isn’t remotely related to the above games, but somebody on another BBS posted a link to a puzzle game that is just way too addictive. If anybody likes puzzle games, here’s the link: http://www.dyson.co.uk/game/play.asp I’d be interested in hearing how far people get if anybody tries it! I made it through all 25 of the regular levels, and all of the transporter levels, and am currently stuck on level 7 in the Grand Master levels. If you get stuck or need to quit it will remember the last level you played so you don’t have to start all over later. I’d never seen a puzzle game quite like this before, so I’ve had a lot of fun with it. It’s not too difficult, it’s just challenging enough to be fun. It starts out ridiculously easy and slowly builds up in difficulty. The first couple levels are more of a tutorial than anything.

Barry, You still have your C64? I kept mine for quite a while, but got rid of it in 1995 when I first moved into my own apartment because I really didn’t have the space for it and didn’t use it much once Q-Link was shut down. Sometimes I regret getting rid of it, because every now and then I get an urge to play some of those silly games I had for it!

--

I remember in 10th grade for some reason a small number of students were needed to volunteer to take their study hall in the library. (Maybe there wasn’t enough space in the regular class.) I was one of the volunteers and that was my best study hall ever. I just about had the library cleaned out by the time the year was over. :)

FlyFly, Congrats on your job videotaping and taking pictures at the wedding. Couldn’t you rent a camcorder for a day or two instead of having to come up with the money to buy one? Or borrow one from a friend? Then after you get paid for doing the wedding you might more easily be able to afford to buy one of your own.

In response to many of Brook's comments:

Commander Keen...God yes, I still miss this game! That reminds me I need to install Hocus Pocus on my computer! I haven't played this game in YEARS. Doom is pretty gory and "evil"...but my brother played it and got me playing it. We also loved Rise of the Triad and would play against each other using a network between our two computers. What fun!!
------------
Thanks on the congrats. :) I would rent a camcorder and actually discussed it with my parents BUT, that would be VERY expensive. I had broken my camcorder and...eek! Not good. I don't know of anyone I can borrow a camcorder from either. So, we aren't sure yet of what we are going to do...we'll have to wait and see I guess!

Hey......fly fly....so much going on tonight......love your new thread!! My earlier post I was talking about the "boys" thread - it's what I call Barry&Spidey's drooling one...;) I found on the net naked Jude Law, naked Orlando Bloom and some more.......and thought of sabotaging it with some of ours!!! hee hee - problem....what will Barry think?????!!!!!
