Universal Studios Announces New Coaster For 2009

So is it just going over parts of CityWalk then? I always thought that Dream Coaster (or whatever it's called) in Japan totally ruined the look of the area and I'd hate to see that happen to Orlando.

It sounds like it will go close to the old production buildings behind Jimmy Neutron and towards Twister.

I think it has to go somehow in that buffer area beside Hard Rock Cafe and then out to the water and back.

Here is the picture from Screamscape as the rumored area for it, and from the sound of the press release, sounds pretty close, but probably not going all the way to the twister area.

But that doesn't show it going out into Citywalk at all. I would take the part that goes behind twister there and stick it out fron of the park.

Err, yes it does, in front of the old nick building/aka Sharp Aquos Theater is technically Citywalk now

But didn't it say somewhere that it was going to go out to the water?

"Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be located near the Jimmy Neutron attraction traveling the southern perimeter of the Universal Studios theme park, over to the CityWalk lagoon and back." I don't think that picture goes out to the lagoon.

Does anyone want to guess as to what the height restriction might be for this new amazing looking coaster? I am thinking 56" and up but hope to be wrong so DS can ride on it in 2009.

Any guesses please?????:goodvibes

Since the restraints aren't over the shoulder, the height restriction may be lower than the other IOA coasters. G-force (a similar ride by the same manufacturer with the same restraint systems) has a height restriction of 52 inches.

Now, can each individual rider pick her own song, or are Mike and I going to have to agree on one?! :lmao:

Either way, between The Simpsons, HP, and RRR (will that be the new acronym for it?), we'll be renewing our APs when the time comes in December. :thumbsup2

trip report please! know i can't squeeze my change purse enough to swing a trip to MB...although the thought of driving home & stopping there sounds appealing.

as if I wouldn't give a review.....psssshhhtttt

just for you janet - chock full o'pictures too

:lmao: :lmao: :thumbsup2 :lmao: :lmao:

Kind of confused about the loop. Will it be upside down at any parts?

Doesn't sound like it. You will start by going a bit on the inside of the loop and then your car will will spiral to the outside of the loop and go over the top and down the other side before it spirals back to the inside again. ( or at least that is my interpretation.)

The restraints are not over the shoulder, so I figure that is going to limit the inversion aspect but these x-cars do apparently do inversions according to their website.

That would be good. I'm not a huge fan of giant loops.

This is so exciting. UO/IOA just keeps getting better & better!

Can't wait to plan a trip for '09!!:cool1:

The non-inverting loop sounds... interesting. It might actually be more intense this way, because of the twisting motion and the fact that you'll be facing straight down after going over the top. I wouldn't put much thought into the type of restraint the ride has. This will be the tallest coaster in Orlando, so the height restriction is bound to be somewhat high.

Here's a new pic from screamscape about their guess as to where it will go.

This one goes right out to the water.

And here is another pic from screamscape of the type of seats expected.

And here is an actual picture from the manufacturing company giving some idea of how banked and the cars in action from one of their other coasters.

Lots of inversions here. Uh oh!!!

So, are we now allowed to talk about the "secret, secret" survey that we took? ;)

Jodie - I would vote for RRR as the new acronym. Or maybe 3R? :thumbsup2

Hmmm...which one? I taken several...not sure which one you're talking about.

I'm guessing you will get to pick your own. Otherwise, you could be sitting beside a perfect stranger who picked "Achy, Breaky Heart."

Kind of confused about the loop. Will it be upside down at any parts?

From all the information released it is not expected to go upside down.
