Universal site vs. Universal vacations

I wa reading earlier that several individuals had a difficult time
cancelling their reservations with the Universal site which is
separate from the Universal Studios vacation site. With the
Universal site, you have to reserve the full amount on your
credit card - I was hoping we could only reserve the room on a
credit card but send our payments in installments. Does
anyone know how you can book an online vacation package
with Universal Studios directly? And does anyone have any
information regarding the Wingate hotel - how far from the
parks? any benefits? cleanliness? anything?

I cannot answer your question about the wingate, but I may be able to help with the Universal question.

I booked my Universal stay with the 1-800-Uescape number. I only had to put one night room deposit down.

You also may want to try looking on the Universal boards, I'm sure they will be able to shed more light on your question.

We have go to Universal parks 3x and never reserved a "package" IMHO, I think they are overpriced.

You can reserve an onsite hotel directly with the hotel. Buy your park ticket thru ticketmania.com or directly at the parks. AAA or Universal Fan club will get you discounts on hotels and tickets.
