Universal Scrip $ Question

Can Universal Scrip $ be used to purchase food from street vendors or only in the gift shops? Thanks ahead for your replies !!

I've never heard of Universal Scrip $. Are they like Disney Dollars? Where do you get them? How do they work?

On the coupon in the Entertainment Book it also has a coupon that says you get $7 Universal Scrip with each 2 day/2 park passes.
