Universal Resorts Newbie

Hello all!!!

My husband and I are planning a trip to Universal and Disney for 2006. We have never stayed at a Universal Resort. Which one do you highly recommend? And where can I go to get the best rate/deal?

Any information about these resorts would be much appreciated.

I am thinking that Royal Pacific looks really nice. How far are the resorts from the theme parks?

Hi!

We have stayed at all three Universal Hotels. All have their merits. The services are pretty comparable. We will be at PBH in a few weeks staying Club level. We also enjoyed HRH and RPH.

The RPH is usually the lowest price and the theme appeals to me greatly.
(I also love the POLY at WDW)

We have had great stays at all three. The FOTL access is wonderful.

I know I'm not a big help, however, if you feel like the RPH appeals to you...go for it AND say some money!

Well if it is just hubby and you I would recommend Royal Pacific or Portofino Bay. Hubby and I love them both, however we love Portofino best. Depends on the reason for our trip and the budget at the time as to which we book.

Universal almost always has some great special going on for their resorts on the universal website, or you can check loews website. (Universal resorts are loews hotels..so you also get points if you are members and book with them).

Royal Pacific is on par if not much better than most disney deluxe resorts. The grounds are wonderful. The restaurants and bars wonderful. Pool area very nice. The rooms are beautiful, grounds lovely.

Portofino..most people compare it to Grand Floridian..hubby and I think it is steps above Grand Floridian. We didn't like GF at all and we love Portofino. Also, great restaurants, bars, beautiful grounds and atmosphere. Lovely pools.
