We have been trying to decide what park to go to on June 21, a blackout day from our Disneyland AP's, and trying to decide which one to go to, and can only be one of them. We are 18 and 13 years old and want a thrill :)
What do you guys think? What are the pros and cons of each?
Thanks!

Universal-
Pros- Closer to Disneyland, Cool Hollywood connection and you might even see them doing ACTUAL filming and maybe a famous face, love the back stage tour, cool shopping and eating area called City Walk (This is where Disney got the idea for DTD), some interesting shows and rides.

Cons- Its a small park, more shows then rides, the rides are OK, the tram is the best part, and the odd park lay out

Magic Mountain-
Pros- if you like crazy rollercoasters this place ROCKS! Great water rides, water park outside the main park (though its a seperate admission), over all best rides

Cons- its further away from DL, it can be INSANELY packed on weekends in the summer, lots of teenagers and not many adults can mean people being stupid, loud and obnoxious, park is not nearly as well kept as DL. And if you don't like rollercoasters skip this park, its all about the biggest, fastest and most outrageous rides.

Its been a few years since I have been to either park but since I like roller coasters I have to say MM has always been my favorite since I feel it has more to do and all the rides are so re-rideable.

It all depends on if you like rollercoasters or not, if you don't like mega coasters then go to universal. universal has a fair share of rides/shows that will keep you busy for a majority of the day. jurassic park and the mummy are two must see attractions at universal!

Magic Mountain will give you lots of thrills - sounds like that is your better option based on what you are looking for. Warning - it is really, REALLY hot up there, even in June. Bring sunscreen.

Another vote for MM! They have some great coasters! Not to make it more confusing, but Knott's also has come great coasters as well if you're looking for thrills. Xcelerator, Silver Bullet, La Revolucion, Supreme Scream, and Sierra Sidewinder are all great! And of the 3, KBF is the closest to DLR. I personally hate the drive to both MM and Universal. :scared1:

I know some people here on the boards hate KBF, especially if compared to DLR, but you can't compare anything to Disney. And on it's own, Knotts is great. You get thrill rides as well as some of the classics.

Add you can usually get a discount to KBF. Currently you can get into KBF for only 28.99 with a coupon from Burger King. "Pick up money saving coupons on adult tickets at participating So. Cal. Burger King restaurants. With coupon Adults are just $28.99 and kids ages 3-11 and seniors 62+ are just $19.99!"

Have a great time, no matter what you decide.

yeah, both drives to ush and mm are a pain sometimes, usually going in the morning isn't that bad if you go on the weekends but coming back you will usually find traffic.

the thing about knotts is that the place is kinda getting runned down a bit from what it used to be. same thing with mm, it's going downhill a bit as well. the fun factor is greater at mm for thrills, knotts also is starting to gear up with a bunch of new rollercoaster rides...their newest is gonna be the pony express which will be opening up at the end of may around the memorial day weekend.
