Universal One day tickets with express passes question

We will be in ORLANDo the first week of september and plan on spending one day at universal. In the past we have just gotten our tickets at the gate. I am wanting to do express passes this time. Will I be able to get those day off at the gate or should I get ahead of time online?

You can get them day of either at the gate, or at several locations inside the park.

Depending on the day and how many of you are traveling it may be less expensive to get a room at one of the three hotels that include the EP. Price it out and check. Also, and not that you want to, you can get the EP for 2 days this way.
