My spouse and I have been to WDW several times, but never to Universal. We're both big Harry Potter fans, so we're thinking that on our next trip we should try Universal Studios & IoA.
But here's the problem - neither of us can stand 3D stuff. We both wear glasses, and putting 3D glasses on over our regular glasses is annoying at best. I would normally wear my "wraparound" prescription glasses to the parks, but those would be out at Universal. I've even heard that some of the rides (Spider-Man in particular) aren't very "glasses-friendly" even for ordinary frames.
Plus, neither of us have never liked 3D effects - they just seem "gimmicky", dark, and sometimes headache-inducing. I remember watching "Avatar" in 3D several years ago, and I actually got so annoyed that halfway through the movie I just took the 3D glasses off and watched it "as is".
So, I was disappointed to find out that the new Gringott's ride requires 3D glasses. When you add in all the other popular rides like Spider-Man, Transformers, etc. that all require glasses, I'm wondering whether we'd really enjoy going to Universal or not.
However, I've also read that many of the newer rides have "4K" glasses, which are supposedly a lot better than the old kind - but might not fit over our glasses.
So, I'm in a quandry over our visit - have other glasses-wearers experienced problems with these rides? Are the new "4K" glasses better or worse than the old kind?
