Pulling away for 3 days from our Disney trip and booked 3 nights at PBR. I have no clue what to expect because I was only at Universal once about 10 years ago and barely remember it. No on-site hotels at the time, no IoA, no Citiwalk,no kids at the time either.

We will not have a car on this stay so I'm wondering if the dining is similar to the Disney set up. Here are my questions: should I be making reservations at places for my stay, what places are more Kid friendly and if I don't make a reservation, am I going to struggle getting in to places? Our dates are 7/25-7/28. Any info you wonderful people can give is appreciated.

I would read the FAQ's at the top of the page......

You do not need to make reservations to eat months in advance like you do at WDW. Emerils takes ressies, Bubba Gumps doesn't. Hard Rock Cafe does 30 days in advance. I wouldn't worry about making ADR's....if you're staying onsite, show your room key and you will get "next available" a/k/a priority seating. There is a place at CityWalk where you can make ressies for that nite....CityWalk gets busy about 8pm...so, if you eat earlier...you'll be okay! Remember, this is Universal and it's much more relaxing than planning a WDW vacation!

Universal is soooo much fun; I am sure that you will enjoy your trip. Having the FOTL pass really helps. Last July, we were getting on rides in 15 min. that had 1 hr wait times! As far as accessibility, everything is only a short walk away. IOA and the Studios are only a 10 minutes apart thanks to City Walk. Also, the restaurants are great. We always eat at Margaritaville and Mythos. We usually make reservations for them a couple weeks in advance.
