Has anyone been the the Luau at the Royal Pacific in Universal. We've been to the one at the Poly and I'd like to see how they compare

We stayed at the Royal Pacific for the first 4 days of our holiday in September/October and did the Luau and then we stayed at Disney for the next 21 days and did the Poly one.

The best one for us was The Royal Pacific one, hands down.

I thought the food choice was alot better and it's a buffet, the show was good because they weren't trying to tell a story through the whole show so no hamm acting and it also didn't last forever and it also wasn't packed to the brim, there were about 8 people to a table and they brought drinks round all the time.

With the poly one I felt the food was rushed plus there wasn't enough for the 4 of us and it just seemed to go on forever, my butt was numb half way through and I just wanted to get out of there and watch the fireworks that were going off over Magic Kingdom.

You will find alot of similarities between the two though, in terms of the dances and fire dances but I just felt the Luau was alot more personal and friendlier.

HTH :thumbsup2

Do you need to be staying at RPR to attend the luau and how/when do you book it?

Hi Libby,

No you don't need to be staying on site. You can only book 30 days in advance and the number is in this link:

We just popped to the concierge desk to get the tickets and then went and checked in, there is a bar there too so you can have a drink whilst waiting and there is a guy who play the ????? (I want to say Ukelele but don't know really), he was quite funny actually and quite a good singer.

W have done both, as well. Like pixiepower said , where Disney is a story, the universal is more dancing flame twirling etc, they get the kids on stage, and a few people as well ,is not bad.
food is excellent and plenty of it ,same with the drink.
We are at a table with people from, Chicago, and Think it was kentucky, all where very nice, the guy got fed up waiting on the waiters , so him and i just went up and got our own, was a lot quicker.
We have not been for a couple of years, and we always stay at RPR, and where able to book it on the day if we had wanted to go in July, although i would book it in adavance if you wanted to go.

Thank you everyone. Mt DH loves the luaus (not sure if it the girls in skirts???) *** he says he loves the kitsch. I loved the one at the Poly but we were lucky and got really good seats. Not sure if I would have enjoyed it as much if we had sat further back.

Will deffinitely book for the RPH one:thumbsup2
