Universal just raised prices today (6/20/11)

Apologies in advance for what could be a really stupid question , but with the elimination of the 7-day option, will they still honor unused 7-day tickets? I bought a 7-day park hopper last month, and now I'm worried I won't be able to use it.

Oh, and I agree that it was stupid of them to axe the 7-day option in favor of a 14-day (I couldn't even find that on the website, where is it?). Universal is wonderful and has lots to do, but two weeks is a bit much.

Lycaon, the tickets you already have should be fine.

At least if you purchase tickets online they actually end up costing less. I'm curious to see what Undercover Tourist ends up charging.

I do agree that eliminating the 7 day pass was a bad idea.

maybe if universal hears from enough homies, they could bring the 7 day passes back.

on the other hand, could be the 7 day passes weren't selling as they thought, maybe too many homies complained they lost days on them overall.

SHould have seen this coming. UGH! Just went to undercover tourist and bought my tickets. I hoping they were still at old pricing. They still have 7 day tickets listed for anyone who wants to buy them!

good point! undercover has them at $184, which is just $10 less than the new 14-day. (We just got back from using our old pre-Potter set which cost less than $100 pp so I wasn't paying attention to the newer pricing ) So it'd only be costing our family of 5 $50 more. I just have an issue with buying days and perks that I know we won't use, kwim? I'd feel obligated to drag us all into the park every day for 14 days, even if only to use the bathroom there. Ridiculous, but that's me. That's why I also avoid buffets - I stuff myself to make sure I get my money's worth.

Very true and what people don't understand is...when one resort raises prices the others follow. In the theme park industry no one wants to feel like a "bargain" since public perception would be negative. You can't be cheap in the industry and not have fallout from low ticket prices.

We (locals) know what to expect from living here and being so close to everything.

price increase not a surprise, but I am disappointed in elimination of 7-day. 7 was perfect for us. We don't need a 14-day (does anyone?) and have no interest in Wet 'n Wild. Guess we'll reduce our visits to 3 or 4 days and allow time to add in Sea World.

undercovertourist.com still has the 7 day tickets if anyone wants them.

We are planning our first Universal Trip (using a Disney bounce back for Hotel at All Stars) in October. I priced out 4 day Park-to-Park Tickets last week and looks like they went up $9 on the internet. So I don't think that's too bad.

Getting the 4 day tickets for the four of us at Universal is still $402 less than if we were to get 4 day MYW base tix for WDW.

True. In 2009, we went to US/IOA on a 3-month pass for $89 each. We fell in love with US/IOA, but partly because the prices were so cheap! So when they raised the prices to re-coup the WWHOP money, I protested and stayed home! (actually, we went on a Disney cruise.)

We went back earlier this month and had fun, but we spent $139 each for three days. And I had to sell my DW on it because she remembered spending $89 for 3 months and we're not big Harry Potter fans.

But Hogsmeade is very nice. It was worth it going. And they needed to charge more money because they were the "Low-Cost Leader" in 2009.

If you're eligible to purchase thru your employer (or a good-enough googler to find a link) TicketsAtWork has many different options for Orlando theme parks.

I received an email today (past customer) and noticed that the adult Universal 4 day park-to-park tix e-ticket, after all taxes/fees, was approx $20 less that online purchase thru U or $151xx.

Very interesting re the 7 day tix disappearing. I bought a handful of the 'old version' from AAA when priced under $70 and was hoping to upgrade 1 to an AP this year. My DH keeps renewing his AP, i let mine lapse when I purchased the cheap tix, figuring we only needed one for the hotel discount.

I called U re upgrade value, but was told the actual upgrade value would be sorted out once we arrived @ the park since they no longer sell the exact 7 day tixs i have in hand. I'm wondering if they specifically eliminated selling the current 7 day tix to avoid confusion/loopholes re upgrades.

The 7 day tickets were $175 for adults plus $27.50 for wet & wild. I spoke to a rep today who said the 3 park passes are going to be $195 at the park and $175 online. Seems like a good deal to me even if you don't use wet and wild.

I think they've been selling these 3 park tickets in Europe for some time, but not in the US. I found some UK sites offering these tickets for 110 euros which translates to about $158 USD. Anyone know if I would have any issue using these?

I did the same thing today as well. UT was still offering the same prices they had earlier in the week, plus they took off an additional $1.99 because my order was over $500. But with free shipping and taxes included I'm satisfied I got a good deal. We got the 4 Day P2P and for the additional $17pp I added 4 admits to WnWild. Since we'll only be in Orlando for 6 days I think we're covered.

I bet VISA loves it when the parks do a price increase!
