I am truly clueless when it comes to Universal. We have been there a couple of times in the past years and this last December we stayed on-site...Loved the FOTL...even if we really didn't need it...

Anyway, we are thinking about heading back down in 2005 and are not sure when. Either end of April or the 3rd week on October. I pretty much know what to expect at Universal/IOA during April, but have not a clue in October.

What is HHN and how does it affect everything? Park hours, crowds, etc.

Your thoughts and info is appreciated! Thanks!!!!

The weather is better in Oct. It's not as warm and isnt usually that wet.

Crowds are usually fairly quiet (rarely more than a 20 minute wait) during the day. Park hours are usually run like this:

9-7 for the park not having HHN.
9-6 for the park with HHN on non-event nights
9-530 for the park with HHN on a slow HHN night
9-5 for the park with HHN on a busy HHN night

HHN is when the park is open in the evening and is transformed into a dank, misty place haunted by scareactors who jump out at you, or follow you, or chase you with chainsaws! No really!

There are also mazes designed to scare the wits out of you, and many of the rides are open.

It is brilliant, and we're going again this year. I hate horror films, yet I loved this - I don't know when I have laughed so much.

Chainsawwolf visits this board - he's a scareactor with his own website about HHN. If you do a HHN search, I'm sure you'll find it.

We were there over a weekend at he beginning of October in 2003 and the crowds were not very big and the lines were short. It did not seem like many that were in the parks in the day stayed for HHN, as we stayed in the park after closing as we had HHN passes. The weather was very comfortable, shorts and t shirts. If its anything that interests you, HHN was a blast, lots of fun, but a different crowd than the daytime. They have haunted houses with scareactors that are pretty good, fog machines all over, demonic costumed actors walking around, etc. Its is lots of fun, especially if you stay in the park after closing and have dinner, because then you get access to a couple of the houses before the crowds come in.

Thanks to all for the info! You made the decision easy for me - although now I have to wait 6 months longer!
