Universal In, Disney Out.

:thumbsup2 Interesting list, good food for thought on how both Disney and Universal are progressing. You could also add Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge to the UOF list if you're talking in terms of each individual attraction...which makes their list even more impressive! (Although after doing a little research, I am realizing Dragon Challenge used to be Dueling Dragons? So maybe it would be one of the things on the list that just has a star next to it?)

Correct. And Flight of the Hippogriff used to be The Flying Unicorn.

We went to UO for the first time this March and I almost regret it. We had a really great time, but we own DVC so we can't give up on Disney. We had a long weekend available and one of the reasons we decided to go to UO was so that we wouldn't feel the need to go during our Dec Disney trip which we are hoping to make a relaxed pace trip. Our 8.5yr DS has been reading Harry Potter and begging to go to Uni on our next trip. We had so much fun and LOVED the parks even though my 8.5yr old is too scared for the big coasters and my 5yo is too short.

As good a time as we had, I was not impressed by RPH. It wasn't terrible, but I thought it was pricey. We paid $270+$18 parking per night for their cheapest, standard view 2 queen room. I've never paid cash for a Disney room, so I may simply not understand what they go for these days. The room was TINY. I've had bigger hotel rooms in Manhattan. And it felt a little old and grimy, not down right dirty, but aged. We moved to Animal Kingdom Lodge for 1 non-park night at the end of the trip and IMHO that hotel was hands down way nicer than RPH. The bathroom, space, and fixtures just seemed so much nicer. And we had a balcony! Minus a very few rooms at Portofino Bay, none of the Uni hotel rooms have balconies which make a big difference when the rooms are so small.

We stayed at RPH for 3 nights and had 3 day park tickets. We were able to really enjoy the parks, but to do so at a very nice relaxed pace and to do our favorite attractions several times. I thought HP&FJ was an amazing ride. It was a perfect resort for a long weekend trip. I'm not sure we could last a week there. We're still excited for our Disney trip this year, but we are now also big fans of Universal.

Don't get too excited yet about US Hollywood, whereas US Florida is multiple parks full of thrill rides, I was very disappointed after a trip this past year to US Hollywood as there are I believe just 5 rides and most are virtual rides. I couldn't believe we were done seeing it all in about half a day.
