Universal Hollywood with front of the line pass

So... We are going to Disneyland next month for 2 days. We've been before and seen practically everything. We are mainly going to see the 60th anniversary celebration. On day 3 I have front of the line tickets for Universal with early Harry Potter admission at 7am. I would also like to go to the La Brea tar pits for a couple of hours. Should we go to Universal first? How early would we need to leave Anaheim to be there for rope drop? Should we leave later to avoid rush hour? Should we do the tar pits first and then spend the rest of the day at Universal? I will have 2 boys, 8 and 11 with me. This is our last day in California and we will have a car. I'm clueless on how to make this work? HELP!

Going to the other places you want to see, after USH I feel is a better plan.

You'll have the best chance to get lots done if you go to USH first. We did a one day trip on 6-7 a Tuesday. We got there when the park opened at 9am, their EE was 8am that morning. WWOHP wasn't too bad at 9am but the crowd did build as the day went on. We didn't have FOLP's and did just fine for line times. When the crowds had the lines at 90 min+ we used SR line.

The day begin with overcast clouds which was nice. Once the sun burned through USH was hot and uncomfortable.

For those without FOLP's, we found things in WWOHP cleared out during the shows. At 3pm both the pet show and special effects show were on and the wait times in WWOHP DROPPED way down. Forbidden Journey was posted 30 minutes.

I'd check an app for a map and travel time to decide how much time to allow in the morning.
