i was wondering if anyone had ever used the universal gift cards (you can buy at walmart, other retail stores). it states that you can redeem for tickets or universal dollars that can be used in parks/restaurants. i'm betting that they can't be used in the hotels. if you use the universal dollars in the parks to pay for something do they pay your change back in good old $$ like disney dollars do? i think family members are giving them to us for xmas. thanks.:santa:

Subscribing...I have given out Disney Dollars to my grandchildren before our Disney trip...We are going to Universal in February...and I didn't know if I should buy them each a card or just give them money..:confused3

You can only use them two ways: to purchase tickets or to exchange for Universal dollars. They aren't used like store giftcards or credit cards.

Once you get the Universal dollars, you can use them almost anywhere at the parks and Citywalk. I don't know where or if they take them at the hotels though.

thanks much. once you have converted to universal dollars and start using them in the park/citywalk, if you for example use a $20 universal dollar bill do they give your change back to you in cash. thought we could use the cash at hard rock towards our bill!! thanks again.

Yes, they do give you change back in cash.

thanks much. i think we are going to end up with a bunch from "santa".

phamton....

I'm glad someone asked this, as I had seen them in Walmart over the weekend and was thinking of getting them for DBIL & family for Xmas..... See, they likes the drinky, drinky while in the parks (remember, we are THAT family that gets the lockers for our drinks while we ride! ) and I was thinking if we got them that gift card, they could use it to buy drinks in the parks. So, what happens, is the gift card you buy, you'd have to take to GS and exchange for Uni $$.... that seems kinda dumb, being the card is already there...you'd think it would work like a debit card :confused3 and not a 'voucher'......

thanks for enlightening us.... :goodvibes
