Universal gift cards...do they work like Disney's???

When we plan a trip to WDW I start stocking up on gc in $25 increments whenever I go to my local grocery store and then we use them to pay for our food and souveneirs at the parks.

Can you do the same thing with Universal gc's? I guess I need to buy them online as I haven't seen them at my local store but I just wanted to make sure I could use them towards food and such. Sorry if this a stupid question

The Universal gift cards were recently changed to work as any other gift card so the answer to your question is....yes!

Wait - what? The gc are now usable as is in the parks? The card says exchange for Universal dollars. I was reluctant to buy too many because I didn't want to spend time exchanging them at park opening. I have purchased several $25 gc at my local grocery store - Safeway. They also sell $50 increments but I didn't see any without an amount so that you can pick the amount.

Ooh, so excited to hear that! Last time we were there I got Universal GCs (one of our two gas point grocery stores has them,) expecting them to work like Disney's do. Imagine my shock when I had to trade them in for gobs of Universal Dollars, ha ha... glad to know they are usable debit-card style now!
