Universal from "The Old Days"

I went with my husband not long after it opened. Back to the Future was just amazing and we loved Jaws, King Kong and Ghostbusters. In 1998 we took the kids and spent a lot of time in the Nick Studios. The kids participated in the a couple of the "game shows" and loved it. My son got was chosen to help out in the Animal Actor show. He loved being up close with Beethoven and a live monkey. I remember Hard Rock being elsewhere and I loved seeing the Psycho House. There was also a Xena show when we were there. My daughter was a huge fan so she was in her glory. I have pics of the kids with Fred Flintstone. I don't think he is there anymore.

I had forgot about the Xena show. Used to watch this and Hercules religiously so really enjoyed it. I also got picked once for the Hitchcock shower scene from Psycho totally freaked my wife out as she thought I was demented. Miss Kong and Jaws but enjoy the new rides and hopefully Diagonal Alley will be great too.

My favorite part of the Hitchcock show was the part with the statue of liberty torch. They would film someone laying on the ground flailing about and then add it to the green screen to make it look like they were falling. We saw a guy picked to act this out once and he was so tall that he didn't fit all the way in the screen. They had to cut off his feet :rotfl2:

I remember old Universal. I really loved the Hitchcock show especially the Rear Window section. Back to the Future was great and I remember buying an Out of time mug.:thumbsup

I like the Hanna Barbarra ride too and scoured the store for Jetson's merch. I found some.:thumbsup2

One of the things I remember...and I may not remember it correctly...near ET was a store that had a computer terminal and you can enter stuff in and it would read it back to you in the voices of the characters from The Munsters. Or maybe just Herman.

Can't forget the Star Trek experience near Kong! There's an embarrassing video of me somewhere doing it as a kid with family lol.

First trip was in 1996, so obviously before IOA. Favorites were definitely doing the game shows/seeing the slime in the Nickelodian area. Loved the Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera, and thought Kong and Jaws were fun in that great scary way. I thought Earthquake was great, too.
