Universal for a kid who scares easy?

I'm thinking that after our AP expires our next DVC trip we might use our plus options for the water parks and then maybe try out Universal. (It has been years since I've been, pre-kids.)

My youngest at 3 1/2 is pretty adventurous, but my oldest at 6 gets scared really easy. If I recall right, I'm not sure she will want to do anything there. Am I wrong? I was just trying to think of some new things we could do.

Is there enough at both parks for the kids to make two days out of it? Are their passes like hoppers?

Thanks!

Try the Universal Info site. I have provided the link:

I was just at Universal this past summer. They do have multiday passes. If you are going during a busy time, they have Universal Express which is like Fast Pass. Read up on it because you can but front-of-the line access for every ride.

Some rides will frighten your child: Mummy, Earthquake, Jaws, etc. Many rides and attractions are for the whole family. I would suggest you prepare ahead of your trrip. It will save time and grief.

That is tough. when my daughter was 6 she did not go on one thing there. I felt so bad, she sat everything out And she had been there the year before and went on stuff. She is really not too sensitive to stuff like that. My son also, didn't start going on stuff til he was nine, he is very sensitive.

There is definitely not enough to make 2 days out of it for little ones. You could by the 2 day pass9 which allows you to hop I beleive) and just save the second day, they don't expire.

Have Fun,
Irene

USF has tons of things for the "smaller set"

there is Jimmy Nuetron, ET, Fievels Playland, Woody coaster Shrek, Curious George area, Barney show, and all the meet and greets. The animal show is great as well.

MIB is fun, and my not quite 5 year old loved it!, Back to the Future isn't that scary either.

At IOA, there is a lot to do also

The entire Dr. Suess area. There are some great rides, also the themeing is fantastic. In the Jurassic Park area there is the Discovery center, and the Jurassic playground area. In the Lost Continent area there is the Unicorn coaster. The toon lagoon is fun also. Popeye and Me ship the olive is really fun. Dudley Do right is fun and not scary. In the comic book area, Spiderman is not a scary ride! My then four year old loved it! There is also Storm Force to ride as well.

Iffy attractions can be

At USF: Jaws (my daughter wasn't scared as lon g as she didn't see the shark on her side), T2 (scared the first time, but loved it afterward) Make up show (scared the first time, but fine after we told her it was ok) Twister didn't scare her at all.

IOA: She like Posiedons Fury as long as we held her hand.

I second the Sea World suggestion! My youngest is 6, and even my 11 year old would be frightened by a lot of stuff at US. IOA is a LOT of coasters, and I have extreme motion sickness. DH is not a "thrill junky" and only 1 of my 4 kids has any desire to do roller coasters. It would be a huge waste of money for us to go there. We all can do MOST of the things at WDW together. We all love animals and SW is a big deal to us, next time we want to do Discovery Cove too!!!

My kids sound just like yours. My 3 year daughter rode anything she could while my 4 year old son was scared on The Cat in the Hat (and everything else).

US has the Fievel's playground area that both my kids loved. Also the Curious George waterpark area is fun if you bring swimsuits with you. Both of mine were ok with Shrek 4D.
When we go again I'll probably have my son try the Dr. Suess rides again. They were the first ones that he'd ever done and I think he'd do better next time now that he knows what to expect.

I'm looking forward to going without kids so we can really experiece all of it.

I would agree Sea World may be better. The key here isn't the age but the "Scares easily". There are a number of exhibits at Islands of Adventure and a number at Studios that could fill a full day or two for a six year old but the majority of them are, at least, a bit adventurous. Even rides like Men in Black, Back to the Future etc. can be intense at points. Although I personally find them suitable for a six year old it really depends on the particular child.

I would think considering the 2nd child is only 3 1/2 that you might have better options. But read up on the park and rides, talk to your child about the parks and maybe she'll decide she would be willing to try a few things if she knew in advance what was there.

Thanks. We just did Sea World and it was a hit. Very nice park. I'm thinking we should wait on US now. I dunno. I think alot of that stuff would freak her out. Maybe we should wait even longer.

I think my 3 1/2 year old would be fine on all those things if she is tall enough. Last month she rode everything she could at WDW and even begged to ride Dinosaur again after riding it. Meanwhile my 6 year old was crying for even being in the souvenir shop!

Maybe we'll do the water parks, a couple dinner shows and then MK or Sea World just one day.

There's only three real coasters at IOA and two are part of the same attraction. There's also a kiddie coaster but the rest is mostly shows and water rides & play areas and Spiderman.

I would personally wait until a kid who scares easily is a bit older. Our son was a bit leery of things when he was younger but he takes everything but the coasters in stride now and has since he was 9 or so. Sea World sounds like a great alternative!
