Hi all. I"m looking for some of your expert opinions. I have gone to disney many times and we were thinking of going to universal this time around. I am a pretty big ride chicken especially when i don't know what to expect. i've worked up my courage and done most rides at disney although going to other theme parks i won't do the roller coasters. (and i don't like rock n roll roller coaster and won't do mission space at disney) i've read most of the info on allearsnet and I think the descriptions sound worse than they really are (in my mind). So can someone rank the rides or maybe compare them to the disney rides as far as the "thrill factor". I don't want to spend the money on the ticket if I'm not going to do anything there. Thanks in advance!!

I am a complete coaster wimp as well but I went on Revenge of the Mummy (only because we didnt know what it was until we were ready to get on it) and i loved it. I have heard it compared to space mountain but as i havent been on that i cant say! It doesnt go upside down which is my main concern about coasters!

I hope that helps a bit

We also did Jaws, ET, Men in Black, Terminator, Twister and the eartquake and Shrek 4D. All of these were pretty straight forward and nothing scary!

Op. you can do it!! I was such a wimp, for rollercoasters in 2002 that changed, when my cousin, talked me into riding all the coasters at six flags. I was so scared, looking at that scream machine. To make matters worse. I had to ride with a complete stranger. But, I did, it!! Have been riding coasters since. I believe you can do it too! It will be ok. I promise! The Mummy, is not to be missed. It is a really great ride, with a small not very intense indoor coaster. the others are bigger, and look much more intense. But, I believe you can do them if I can. It is sort of a mind over matter thing. I would say there are so many other attraction to miss out on, @ Universal. If you do chicken out, on the bigger rides.

If you've done Splash Mountain, then you could go on the Jurassic Park River Adventure and Dudley Do Right. I think both drops are bigger than Splash, but they aren't really all that much scarier. Popeye and Kali River Rapids are similar rides. Popeye is longer than Kali and has larger rapids, but it does not have a big (relative term here) hill like Kali. If you don't like roller coasters, I'm not going to be the one to tell you to ride Hulk and the Dueling Dragons. But, if you've been on Space Mountain or Expedition Everest, you could handle the Mummy. All the remaining rides are fairy tame.

Hi there, My question is simmilar, yet not the same....I'm not afraid of coasters, they just tend to give me a head ache or upset stomache. I have taken Dramimine in the past to help, and it works to a certain extent. I was wondering does anyone have any other ideas for help with motion sickness? Back to the Future was the worst for me...I'm sort of glad it's gone. :)

i've been unable to go on roller coasters (mainly the upside down ones) for some time now. I can go on log flumes/water rides, but when there's a potential my head will be shaken around, I will definitely get a headache and just avoid the ride altogether. I was completely fine on the Mummy and when it came to the other coasters that went upside down and in loops, etc. I just let my fiancee ride alone and waited at the exit for him. We did pay extra to get the Express Passes so not using them on these rides was a bit of a loss for the EPs but it saved me from walking around not feeling well and he had a good time so in the end it was worth it!! :goodvibes

Like the OP, I will do most rides at Disney (splash and Space mountain) but not tower of terror or Mission Space (Mission Space more so because of the 'incidents' that have happened:eek: ).
I've done spiderman and Jurassic Park - but will not do any of the big coasters at IOA. My question is - will I be ok on the Mummy based on what i've said above?

(I will have to ride it solo while DH looks after the children - and I probably wouldn't do Splash mountain on my own - although I would be ok with Thunder Mountain solo - if that gives you any clue as to what i'm like!!);)

You should do fine on Mummy, it's a good ride. You might want to do more than once, though, so you can take in more visually. There's a lot going on as you go from chamber to chamber.

Agreed. The coaster sections in Mummy (there are three, with the 2nd being the longest) are short and easy to handle. There is an IMMENSE amount of theming and decor, so keep your eyes open. Even during the coaster sections, there is alot of cool stuff to look at.

Make sure you look for the Kong statue in the treasure room...but look FAST!
