Universal "Earthquake" to close.

Not one of my favourites. I was much more sorry to see King Kong go. Sounds more like a name change/re-vamped ride than an entirely new attraction, especially given that it's slated to re-open in December.

I agree, it can't be changing too much if it's going to be ready by December

I'm just going to pop this over to the Trip Planning forum, to let people know who are travelling soon

Its really making me question if i should bother going to universal in 3 weeks time?

With all the rides closing and no replacements yet, why should i bother?

My mother-in-law wants to go but i don't know if i'll enjoy it as much as last time.

Debbie - I agree with you totally - King Kong was my all time favourite in ALL parks!!! I haven't seen Mummy yet - but I don't think I'll be brave enough to find out if it really is better than the big gorilla!!:scared1:

Earthquake was a bit tired, so I think it could do with an upgrade!!;)

Oh dear :sad2: Another of the classics has gone!

I was extremely sad to see King Kong go and now we're loosing EarthQuake too! I was looking forward to these two, not been on them for such a long time!

i didn't think much of earthquake :confused3 wonder what they will do with it.

I read somewhere (sorry, i can't remember where) that the pre-show was going but the ride itself was staying. I guess there will just be rethemeing

I not sorry to see it go. Unless you were sitting in the middle of the train you didn't see much.

The Mummy is amazing, I can't wait to ride it again. Maybe this time I may have my eyes open for the whole ride.

We rode Earthquake two weeks ago, we were stood by the entry doors to the pre show and were then led through a side door directly on to the ride. it does appear that it is the preshow which is being worked on.

I thought it was a bit boring, the Backlot Tour is much better :goodvibes

To me Kong WAS Universal Studios, I really miss it.

To me, there is no comparison between kong & the mummy. The new ride is absolutely superb & as I say in my trippie, is close to overtaking spiderman as the best ride at Universal - close but not quite! I thought that kong was getting a bit dated but was certainly a classic. I was chosen as an extra in the pre -show on earthquake this year but I must admit that the pre-show is a bit drawn out but surely you need something to pass on the wait time, as the ride itself must take some re-setting before the next ride.

Kev- Should I attempt Mummy solo???!!!:scared1: I guess DS4 will be too scared and DH will be looking after DS9mths - am I am a big scaredy cat!!! (as an idea of what i'm like - I love BTM and will do SM but am glad when its over!! Liked Spiderman but wouldn't attempt any of the IOA coasters (Jurassic Park was my limit and I'd only do that once with DH, not solo!!)):thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Mummy is my fave ride in Orlando:cool1:

We hadn't done Earthquake for years, but popped in a couple of weeks ago. TBH, I was pleasantly relieved not to have to see Charlton The Wig Heston and his pre-show. That was just too boring for me, but don't know whether they're organising another one since it was all closed off.

I too thought King Kong was a classic, but can't complain given it's taken over with Mummy.

Can't wait for the new Simpsons attraction - the new Kwik Mart store is great:thumbsup2 We got some great Xmas pressies in there:santa:

sounds like Disaster jst from the name is gonna prpbably be really similiar to Eartquake, still witht he preshow just vhanged, and the underground. i bet it will be like when they changed Hulabola (sp) to Jimmy Neutrons, just changed the theming!

To be honest, even though this ride is now part of the staple Universal diet of rides, and has been around since the park opened, the fact that they are refurbing this to not even releate to a movie seems silly to me. They should just close it and put a new more advanced ride. Also I agree with whoever made that pervious post of, I'd rather Kong would have stayed and they built The Mummy in the building that currently houses Earthquake.

In Short, this ride is outdated and should be removed, tis fun for the first ride but after that its more than repetaive.

Every time they announce a closure of an attraction at Universal I always have a grumble about why's that ride closing when "I love Lucy" is still kept open !!!!!

After 14 years of visiting Universal I still have never been in there, what is it, who is she?
