Hello!

I am trying to decide if going to Universal Studios Orlando is a smart move during the week leading up to Easter. All of the crowd calendars say this time frame is packed and wait times for attractions are ridiculous. I would be going for 3 days and would not have an express pass. Does this sound like a disaster? Does anyone have first hand information about being in this park during max capacity? Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance:)

It'll be busy. Very busy.........but you know this in advance so can plan accordingly.

Be at the gates well before opening time.........EE guests will already be in.

Rides like Despicable Me have horrendous queues all day from early, so if that's a ride you want to do, hit that first......

Potter will be mobbed I imagine.

Check out the layout of the parks on the website...........www.universalorlando.com

Here you can have a rough plan of what your priorities are and what your options are for rides with single rider.......that can help with time during the days.

Parks "can" quieten down later in the day.......good time for Potter.....both parts. To ride Hogwarts Express you will need park to park tickets.

Lots of info on these boards too on restaurants and much more.........have a read of all the stickies on top of the boards.........

Only you can decide if it's a smart move or not afterwards :D.......but I hope you have a wonderful trip if you do go.........

It will be busy, but it can be done. One thing I suggest...single rider line! Especially if you've been through the queue already and want to ride over and over. You will be temporarily split up from your group, (probably won't ride in the same car together) it's not a huge deal. This could save you HOURS throughout the day

I was there the week before Holy Week last year. We were leaving the Saturday evening before Palm Sunday and did a few hours in the park that day. You could see the crowds building throughout the morning. We had EP, so it didn't bother us too much, but the walkways were jammed, especially the area around the Kong Island construction (it bottlenecks there). Based on my experience, it isn't an ideal time to go, but as long as you do a little planning, you will still have a great time. Against my better judgement, I'm trying Thanksgiving week this year. I've heard that it is fairly slow up until Thanksgiving day. Hopefully by that point we will have done everything and will be content with just hanging out at the pool (provided that the weather cooperates).

It's been a while since I've been during a super busy time - but we had a blast! I used to go between Christmas and New Year's every year. It was very crowded - as in, them not allowing any more people into the parks crowded. We were able to get a lot done, but used single rider lines to their fullest. If I had to go during a busy time without kids, I'd do it. I probably wouldn't spend the money on express pass if I knew I was making a trip back sometime, but I know many would. However, I would not go during a super crowded time with kids as it makes things so much more complicated. (The exception would be if you're talking about older kids, who can do single rider line and zig zag through the crowds better).

We went to both universal and Disney for spring break when my oldest was 16 months about 4 years ago. We were expecting it to be a disaster and almost bought express passes several times. We never spent more than 30 minutes in a line. We rode everything we wanted before dinner, some things more than once. We may have just gotten lucky, we were there Monday and Tuesday. But when we went to Disney world on Wednesday, it was chaotic.
