I was hoping that maybe you guys on this board could help me out. My FIL has been given his last time at home after battling cancer for 11 years. One of his last wishes is to travel to FL with the entire family. DH and I are footing this bill. With us, we have 2 11year olds, a 3 year old, and a 6 old as well as 4 adults for a party of 8. We are scheduled to leave June 9th, and he expressed his desire to see WDW for at least a day, since he has never been there. As I stated we are footing this bill, and the price for a one day is killer. He is very into movies, and I really think he would love Universal, so much more for him to see and do, and expressed great interest in MGM. To me, MGM for a day would be great, but not what he would be expecting! If that makes any sense. He asked for MGM, MK, and possibly Epcot. We are trying our best to fulfill his last desires, he was given this news about a week ago, and has gained enough strength to be able to travel this last time. As his caregiver, I know that he is trying his best to make this trip. The 2 older children my DS and niece have been around this entire battle to finally see it come to an end. I would like for them to enjoy this trip as well for the needed stress relief for children. His desires are to spend quality time with the younger 2 my DD and nephew since he hasn't had as much time with them.

Can you recommend some things for them within Universal? I would like to talk to him about visiting Universal but I have nothing to show him. Are there brochures online that I can print? If so where? please. If they aren't online, would anyone be willing to scan something in that I can print? I know that is a lot to ask since its a true pain. I guess trying to save a buck (by choosing Universal over Disney) isn't the greatest thing given the circumstances, but we have planned this trip in only 3 weeks and didn't have time to save up like we usually do.

Thanks all in advance!!

Princess, I am sorry to hear about your troubles.
It is a wonderful thing you are doing for him.
If he likes movies I think he will enjoy Universal Studios. It is all movie themed. Check out the link below.

Your older kids will enjoy both parks and your 3yr old DD will have fun in Seuss Landing. Curious George area is a blast for young and young at heart.
Barney is there too.

Staying on site gives you access to everything at your leisure with Front of the line benefit. Your wait time is minimal. We are going in June and staying at the Hard Rock. We rent cabana's 9 and or 10. #8 and 9 are near the kiddie pool and pretty close to the slide and pool. Cabana's are alittle pricey this year but we find them worth it.

There are many really nice people on this thread who have tons of info and experiences and they are happy to share.

If you have more questions let me know.

Good luck and God Bless!

Thank you so much KEW. I myself have been there plenty of times before, but I couldn't figure a way to explain it to him. :rotfl2: Those links work fine, this way I can print it out and show him. :thumbsup2 Since this has all come about WAY fast like within a week or so, I am staying off site at our timeshare. It doesn't cost anything, and now we are budget traveling since it came up so darn fast.

If you want a printed brochure (from Universal), I will send you one if you PM me your address.

Carrie
