Hi - my son has decided that for his 10th birthday next May, whilst we are in Florida he would like to spend the day at Universal. Does anybody know of any special things they do for birthays please? I'd like to make it a little more special (apart from the fact he's actual there on his birthday!).:cool1:

Also on the 8th May - his birthday its Mothers Day in USA - does anybody know if they celebrate this there or if it'd have any impact on our visit to Universal???

Many thanks in advance xxx

seam to recall that the parks were quite on mothers day as people were visiting there mums. restaurants were busy with them being taken out for meals

Is your son a wrestling fan at all? They record the TNA wrestling at Universal Studios and I know you can get tickets to go and watch.
I don't think Universal do anything like Disney - as in badges to wear and birthday cupcakes etc - but it might be worth you dropping customer services an email and asking them if they could suggest anything.
They also celebrate Mothers Day over there with the shops full of cards and presents (even the Disney beanies have Mothers Day version) so your son should have no excuse for forgetting :goodvibes

Thank you - that's great - think I will e-mail customer services just to ask. I'll also look into the wrestling - both boys like the wrestling games so I can't see why they wouldn't like the real thing!!

we saw loads of people walking round with bday badges whilst at US and nothing was done, we spoke to a group of kids with personalised 16th bday t shirts on there were about 15 of them, we were playing in the ball park thingy at the back of curious georges and they helped my son kill his dad:goodvibes
nice kids, i asked the young lady what she had had special for her bday, and she said the staff at not even wished her a happy bday...how evil is that?
disney were great with our anniversary badges, and only imagine how they d spoil a kid, have you thought about celebrating early at wdw??

In 2006, whilst we were queuing for Universal to open gates the 'gate guys' were talking to crowd and entertaining us - asked if it was any-ones Birthdays in the coming week (no-ones that day!) and my son and I both said yes (it was!!) and we were given badges - seem to recall more like large stickers than actual badges. The crowd sand Happy Birthday to us.:goodvibes

Walking around the park loads of people wished us Happy Birthday - staff and visitors - we felt a bit guilty as our birthdays were a few days away-but DH said to keep them on - we hadn't asked for them; but been given them. Glad we did as went we went to visit Donkey he sang Happy Birthday to us too.:rotfl2:

Not sure if you can collect these badges from anywhere - or if they still do them - we got ours by 'chance'; worth a try though.

You could try a character meal - think they do breakfasts.

The wresting is only on every other Tues & Thurs - or it used to be - I found the details/dates on Unversal web-site when my DS went- he really enjoyed.

Thanks to you all for you suggestions they've been a great help. I've had a little chat to my big boy and told him about the 'fuss' made at disney compared to US and he kind of likes the idea of going to Holywood Studios for his special 10th birthday! Although being a young boy this could change on a daily basis during the next 9 months!!!

you could get him a cake, toy story or tot, maybe lunch at 50s ptc, my ds is 10 and he loved it, was his fav place over our 3 week stay:lovestruc

I e-mailed Universal's Customer Services with a request of how to make a similar celebration special. They phoned me back to offer a personal Meet & Greet with a character of our choosing, you just turn up to Guest Services with your reference and they arrange the character/location/time when you get someone like Spidey to yourself for photos and autographs etc :goodvibes
