DH & I are considering AP's for Universal but wonder whether it's worth getting one each - or just one of us having one and the other getting a 2-park 7-day ticket?

Anyone with any advice?

Also - when do Universal tend to make the offers on the AP? e.g. 2years for the price of one? I know they have 3 months free at the moment, but wonder if they may improve on that.

Julie

I think if you only go for a few days a year then 1 AP in the family is enough. For us AP's for everyone is a must, next year we have 3 trips planned. We renew every year for $99 each(only about £5 more than a 7 day)
You need to know roughly how many days you will use it. When you have an AP you then get offers on tickets for eg this weekend I could have bought upto 6 x 1 day 2 park tickets at 50% off. (usually buy these for Mother in law when she goes with us)
No idea if there is a certain time of year they do offers on AP but 2 years for 1 was how we started about 5 years ago, $99/year is great value for the renewal.

We bought Annual Passes a few months ago when they had the 'buy one year get another year free' offer on.
They are incredible value for money.

We also brought buy 1 year get another free back in September as we are going twice next year :cool1:

I bought mine earlier this year ,probably about March.
I was holding off to see if they would do 1year +1year free. I personally would wait as long as you can ,and hope an offer comes along.

We always used to get 1 preferred AP (with the discounts and parking) and 1 power AP. But this time we got the 2 preferred as we also had the buy 1 year get 1 free, they tend to offer this promotion around July/Aug if I remember right.
They have usually got to be exchange by a certain month or they are automatically activated at that date (this year it was September/October).

We exchanged ours this morning and the lady didn't have a clue basically, we got our 2 year passes and they are valid from now not back dated to Sept. :cool1:

You can tell it's a quite day for us today as I've got nothing better to do that surf the net! LOL. Saving ourselves for Epcot a little later.

Hi Sam, Happy New Year.
So So Jealous, we like EPCOT so much for NYE we have never tried any other park. We get into England for 7pm (midnight here) great party atmosphere then watch early fireworks, out for a bite to eat before fireworks at DTD area at midnight.
Oh well this time next year we will be there again:banana:

We also bought the Preferred Annual Pass due to the Buy 1 yr, Get 1 Free deal. Dh stumbled onto it at Costco.com and we weren't even looking to get APs but it was such a great deal as is the $99 renewal rate. Because of this, we did get them for all 4 of us. We have gone to FL twice since we bought them back during the summer and just the onsite hotel savings alone have made it worth buying. We also like that we can come and go thru the parks without having to worry that we didn't use a whole day's worth of ticket. We will definitely renew! :cool1:

Hi Wayne

And a Happy New Year to you 2, we are just about to head out and to be honest not relishing the idea of all the crowds. (we decided to just head to Epcot around 7ish and if we don't get in we will hang around the boardwalk) I'm now thinking we may head to DTD for the fireworks instead.

Whatever you do have fun. It beats spending NYE in the UK. This is my 1st at home for 7 years, I don't do NYE at home but love it abroad, either Florida or Spain.:goodvibes

Hi All! I just realized I was posting on the UK boards. lol! UO's website does post AP specials so that's probably the easiest place for you to look as far as I know but may not be the best. I think I'll just shush now...;)
Happy New Year!!! :flower3:

No probs with you posting on the UK boards, I'm sure. Welcome!

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Have a great New Year!

Think I'll hold on for a few weeks longer and see if any better deals come up.

Just looked at costco.com and they have APs at $64!

I assume we Brits can't get them at that rate though. :sad2:

Woops! Should have read all the details - it's Hollywood only!

Sorry!

Julie

I bought APs back in August when the buy one year get one year free offer was on. I worked out the costs of the tickets for all the parks we wanted to visit and then the same thing but with APs instead and it worked out a couple of £s dearer for us for one year's tickets. However, as we intend to go back in 2009, that year will be a cheaper year for us.
