We are considering visting universal as part of our Disney vacation but not sure how suitable it will be. We don't do coasters and have a nine year old. Some have suggested Studios is worth a visit but not Islands of Adventure.

Would welcome any advice

As you were mostly brainwashed by the Disney Boards as to IOA being a coaster park it is not. There are more coasters on Dinsney Properity than at Universal.

IOA offers Spiderman one of the Best Rides in the Country if not the planet. You also have Dudley Do Rights Ripsaw Falls, A fun Flume Ride. Popeyes and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges, the Best Raft Ride around. Jurassic Park River Ride with it's Dinasours is the Best. You Have Storm Force and the Small Coaster is Alright. The Dr Suess area has Cat in the Hat, and two smaller Carosel type rides. I would not avoid IOA beuase there is only three coasters, two of which are a a combined attraction, Duelling Dragon's. My Daughter was seven when she first enjoyed every attraction at IOA, even the coasters. Nine Years old is the perfect age to start wheening one off of the Pixie Dust.

Welcome to the DIS!!!

Whether you ride coasters or not, UO and IOA are fabulous for any family! My boys are now 10 & 8, and adore the Marvel Comics area of IOA---unbelievably themed. They also love the Jurassic Park section---rainforest theme with (possibly) dinosaurs popping out at any minute!

Look at the prices for the parks---you'll see it is absolutely bargain entertainment!! You won't be sorry visiting both of these awesome parks!

Our son is 9 and loves Universal Studios, more suited in my opinion for a young child than IOA.

Barney/ET/Woody Woodpecker/Jimmy Neutron/Curious George/Jaws/Shrek - loads to do. :)

My kids are 11 and 8 and LOVE both IOA and US. Neither one of them or myself do any thrill rides, and we find plenty to do while DS goes off once in a while by himself to do the thrill rides. There is plently at both parks to enjoy for several days at a time.

I have a DS9. His favorite park of all in Orlando is IOA. He could spend all day playing in Camp Jurassic (a huge, fun tree fort type complete with water cannons play area tucked in the Jurassic "forest")

His favorite rides are Dr. Doom, Spiderman, Dueling Dragons. Well, actually he loves them all except Hulk which he hasn't quite mustered the courage to try yet.
