If you could magically control the Universal and IOA park planning, what would your wish be? Would you get rid of a couple of rides? Which one? What would you like to see added?

Personally, I would like to see Terminator gone - this show is outdated and really, how many kids know who the Terminator is? Like maybe make this Transformers instead???

Fear factor - this should be gone too. The last couple of times I went to it, there was like 50 people in the crowd. Update please.

And this may be a bone of contention with some, but ET needs to be gone. It was great the first time, but it is dated too.

In IOA, Poseidons fury - walked out the first time and don't plan on returning....terrible show.

I would love to see Universal adding a house of horrors (like in Hollywood).

And really, does anyone go on storm force accelerator?

Thats my wish list....

Anyone else?

A House of Horrors is a great idea!!

Twister is also a little outdated. Nice concept just needs a LOT of updates.

I also agree that Terminator is kinda dated (unless your 35 ish + and it brings back memories of seeing it the theater and how great it was for it's time.;))

ET is dated, but is a MUCH needed family ride. Even if it's dated kids seem to like it.

All in all I think a couple of "mild" but fun family rides would be a great addition. With HP bringing in a younger crowd, rides the entire family can enjoy are needed. IMO the Studios need it the most. Even with the HP expansion an additional family ride that is NOT a simulator is needed.

To answer your question...7 year olds...7 year olds take their fathers on the storm force accelerator. :rotfl:

I would be sad if they took away Terminator. It's a great place to sit and be cool for a bit plus it funnels an awful lot of people away from other attractions.

To me they could get rid of Twister and Fear Factor.

The parks are awesome as they are!

Nonetheless,

1. I'd eliminate Storm Force for sure..

2. I'd make Dr. Doom a bit longer (one or two more drops)

3. RRR video free

4. Dryers outside water rides $1.

5. I wouldn't have gotten rid of JAWS. Love to ride it at night!

6. I would have replaced Flying Unicorn with a Spiderman type ride of the Enchanted Forrest of Harry Potter...

Cheers!

SO true. :) Except mine takes me not DH, because he wants to see me turn green. Actually, since my guy is over 48", he can go on rides alone, and the last time he wanted to go to Storm Force, that's exactly what he did!

It won't be long before DS sees Terminator; he has seen images and wants to see the movies. So the attraction will be just as relevant for him the first time he sees it as it would have been if he saw it when it opened! People forget that a good movie is a good movie, and an attraction based on a good movie will still be fun decades later for the newbies!

I wouldn't get rid of Storm Forcce..for a small child, they love it.My 8 yr old rode it multiple times this past trip.Same with ET.She LOVED it and for small children not meeting many height requirements, you need to keep some appeal.
Terminator is getting old and something new needs to come in.
Poseidens Fury was AWFUL.. the most impressive thing was the outside of the building.Maybe they could put some sort of ride inside the exisiting building.
Fear Factor needs to go.I haven't seen it , but I hate the show and think that having it as an attraction is a waste of space.

You caught my attention by wanting your video of the RRR to be free. I would like to see adjustments to the video system at the Rip Rocket Rollercoaster, which I have suggested to management. So I am wondering if others think my idea is good or a sign that I have totally flipped my cap.

I would like to see a double view similar to the one shown by Nascar sometimes. The camera shows inside the car and what is going on on the track ahead of the driver. If I understand correctly, the video for RRR shows people screaming their heads off but not what they are reacting to. I think that a camera on the front of the coaster showing the rollercoaster track would be good. Since the passengers also pick their own music, I would liike to have a sound track of what the passengers were listening to available for installation to "customiize" the
video.. What do you think of this.

Perhaps I should admit to a possible bias here. I work for the company which sells those videos of the rides on the Rip Rocket, and I am sure that this would add to the cost of the videos. Would it be worth the extra cost to you? I think that it would be to me if I were buying the vaction souvineer. Yet I am a big believer in honesty, and on that note I should admit to my possible bias.

I'd get rid of Twister and Terminator. Perhaps something themed to the Fast and the Furious, a haunted house walkthough type of attraction themed to Hitchcock, Cowboys and Aliens, or someone else's movie.

I'd put smooth vehicles on Rip Ride Rockit. I'd add a family ride over in the Kiddie area themed to Madagascar with lots of cute animals or The Lorax. I'd put another Harry Potter section(;)) in where the demolished Jaws is with an e-ticket Gringott's ride, a family ride based to one of the magic shops and a new restaurant. I'd also add another Ollivander's.

I'd also get rid of Fear Factor and put something else in there. I loved the Wild West Show.

In IOA I'd make Sinbad and Poseidan more HP themed. I'd change Poseidan to a ride through of some sort. I'd add another family ride over in Toon Lagoon... simple dark ride based on one of the many cartoons where the theatre is. I'd add another one in Jurassic Park...a jeep ride of some sort encountering lots of different dinosaurs. Neither of these family rides would be bankbusters but just solid family rides.

Some interesting ideas here on the thread. Good job! :thumbsup2

I would...

Update ET...not remove it. It's a great attraction and yes...it sorely needs an update in the worst way! But to remove it? Nah.

I agree with getting rid of Fear Factor. I've always thought theme park attractions based on television shows don't last and should not be used...but that's me.

I don't agree with a haunted house attraction. One of the reasons I go to HHN every fall is to get my horror fix for the year and a haunted house type of attraction would diminish that to a certain point. Plus...The Haunted Mansion at MK has spoiled me for not so scary haunted houses and HHN has spoiled me for scary haunted houses.

I agree that expanding HP is a good thing but not into the Studios. If HP is going to be expanded it needs to be kept at IOA. It wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if The Lost Continent was rethemed. Mythos and The Mystic Fountain would be the two biggest losses.

I don't have any opinion on the coasters or thrill rides...leave em alone or change em...doesn't matter to me.

My concern about losing what is left of the Lost Continent would be the loss of MYTHOS..It would stick out sorely if it was in the middle of HP stuff and it would be a HUGE shame to destroy such a nice building..Unless they designed it to look like Salazar Slytherin or something.

Unlike The Enchanted Oak which was lost to HP, I think Mythos would be rethemed and possibly renamed if the expansion happened at IOA...but I don't think it would be torn down.

The topic of family-friendly rides at Universal Studios came up on another theme park site as well. Even as the moderator over there, I really couldn't cast a vote because I hadn't been to Universal Orlando yet. However, now that I have regular contact with the parks now, I too would place more attractions that parents and children could enjoy together on my wish list for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

The heighth requirements for Universal rides can make that a little tough for families with young children. I am sure that that is a big part of the appeal of ET. However, for me the charm is that I went to Universal Hollywood in 1990 for the specific purpose of seeing ET because it wa new down there then. So I guess that I would like to preserve ET for the memories, even though I never went to that one while it was new.

That they would let me decide.

for US
1st - replace Fear Factor with A nice roller coster.
2nd - Leave ET, but upgrade to some new technology.
3rd - Disaster comes out, replace with Bikini Bottom, complete with a big
water ride crabby patty cafe.
4th - terminator replaced by a Haunted House type ride.
5th - Barney needs to go. Replace with more smaller rides for younger kids
