Unity Candle Ceremony Outside

We just spoke to our reverand and he has suggested we not do the unity candle ceremony as it is often too breezy and the candles will just blow out. Has anyone done a unity candle ceremony at any of the outdoor locations and was this an issue for you? An alternative would be to do the sand ceremony, but I do not really like this option.

I have seen it done and people put hurricane lamps over the candles

has anybody had the unity candles inside the Wedding Pavilion as we are considering having this. Is it just the mums and bride and groom who light the candles.

I would like to know the same thing. We are getting married at Sea Breeze Point.

I was going to do the sand ceremony but I think that I would like the candle better,the sand ceremony reminds me of sand art. How can you make sand art pretty?

We got married in the Italy Pavilion and had no problem with our unity candle. The mom's lit the candles as they were seated and then we did the rest of the lighting about half way through the ceremony. We had them put a rose for each mom next to the candles and after we did the lighting, we took one rose to each mom so we could hug our parents and such during the ceremony. It was quite lovely and no problems with the candles staying lit.

In Nov. of 2005 I was married at Sea Breeze Point. We lit a unity candle during our ceremony on a windy day. They put all our candles in hurricane lamps. The wind didn't blow our candles out at all. We used Disney Photography and they told us if the candles did blow out they could add digital flames to the candles in our pictures if needed. I made our unity candle using a white candle and beading so it was important to me that we used it during our ceremony.

We got married at the YCG and it was no problem. We had hurrican globes around ours to stop any wind! You may be able to see them in one of my pics! The link to my TR is in my signature!

We had one at SBP but we just went through the motions because of the wind. Even with hurricanes they might not have stayed lit because as the name explains it is breezy there.

We got married at SBP in November, and tried the Unity candles with the hurricanes. They did not stay lit, so we just went thru the motions as well...

We are doing the Unity Sand ceremony. I was a little skeptical at first, but I found a very pretty nesting vase set online.

I liked that we can incorporate them later as decoration at our house. Our wedding colors are pink so we are doing pink and white sand. We intend to try to salvage the 'original' pour, but we dont think it will travel well, so we'll probably repour when we get back home w/ it.
