United VS DELTA

Check flights into Tampa-St Pete (TPA). It's only a little over an hour drive to Disney from there, all interstate. I've also found it easier to fly OUT of than Orlando. Car rental is onsite so no worries there.

I do not drive and even if I did I'm not sure I would want to drive in a place I know nothing about.

And do you seriously think I didn't look at where my layover airports would be when I booked my flights?

I tried to answer the OP's questions, especially since I fly out of the same airport the OP is planning on, yet all I get is criticized. I guess I won't be visiting the transportation threads any more.

Where exactly is the criticism? :scratchin

I pointed out the error in your post of wanting to avoiding cold weather related delays in winter on United but not realizing that United has the most cold weather delayed hubs out of all the legacy airlines.

If your posting on a public forum, you must be able to accept when you made a mistake and someone lets you know. There was no malice in my intentions. You can't be that egg in a shell fragile. If that's the case, I'm not sure how you made it on public forums to be honest. :confused3

Yes, as already posted, the OP is far too early to buy airfare for Dec 2015, since these won't be released until late January- February 2015. Good luck finding a fare sale for a December flight!

You are mistaken if you think booking flights with connections in warmer weather airports is going to keep you from having weather related delays. Bad weather in one area of the country can affect flights all over the US. In fact, Atlanta has plenty of weather related delays:

By the way, you failed to mention SFO, which I believe has more weather related delays due to fog than any other US airport.

The OP mentioned cold weather delays specifically. I took that to mean snow/ice/hail.

Atlanta delays are few. Most of the times due to thunderstorms. In winter, there is hardly any thunderstorm activity as compared to summer which is why I suggested it as a alternative to any of the other hubs. Not to mention Delta Irrops implementation is just spectacular! :thumbsup2

I didn't mention SFO because the OP specifically mentioned cold weather, but any seasoned NorCal native knows when a cloud blows over SFO, all bets are off ;)
