With all of the problems that United is dealing with, do you think it is safe to book through them for June? I would hate to lose out on the money.

As a United Airlines employee, I sure as heck hope it is safe to book us!
In all honesty though, I can say yes I think it is safe. I work in reservations and we just took an 11% pay cut and i know many other positions are doing the same thing. I believe we are slowly and surely coming out of bancruptcy.

I think United is safe for the year. I'm a travel agent for a corporate agency, and we deal with United almost exclusively. I haven't heard anything through the grapevine about impending doom.

To put it another way, BF and I have booked United for our honeymoon in October!

I had looked into American - and should have booked when I first saw it...the price has now gone up 500.00 (for the 4 of us)!!!!!

The United flights that I found were a lot less expensive and the times were better. Now, I just have to convince my husband that we will be safe if we go with United!

Thanks again! :flower:

To me it sounds as though alot of the news I've heard on United recently is leaning more towards them coming out of bankruptcy than going under.

However, ATA also stated alot of "inaccuracies" regarding their situation, and now they're basically turning their airline back into a regional carrier.

United is a much larger scale airline than ATA, however, and I don't think that they would've started Ted if there was anything big about to take place. I mean if you're company is going to go under, would you take the time and effort to create a start-up?

I hope Ted makes it, especially at Chicago-Midway, because we need someone else in there now to break up Southwest's monopoly.

Just my $.02

Brian

I am personally waiting 2 days so I can book Dec 22 and Jan 2 2006.

I am pretty confidant United will make it through the year. My biggest worry is the schedule may be cut back (they are one of the few airlines still non-stop from IAD)
