United Airlines Seat Assignments?

Has anyone purchased tickets online on the United Airline's Site? If so, why do they not offer advanced seat assignments from here. I am assuming that you have to call in advance for seat assignments or do you have to wait until you arrive at the airport and check-in?

The flight is actually operated by US Air.

We normally fly Delta but United's pricing for the period we want to fly to orlando is much less than Delta's but Delta offers advanced seat assignments when making the online purchase.

It might be because it is a codeshare or the flight is full. Maybe you missed it. I would call now and request seat assignments. In the case of overbooking those without seat assignments are the first to get bumped if someone doesn't volunteer.

Safetymom, tks for your reply. I do believe that this is because it is a codeshare flight. We have not purchased the tickets as of yet because our travel date isn't until July 2004 but i have found in the past that the tickets are usually cheaper the earlier you book.

I guess if we book this flight that i should call United for the seat assignments or should i call US Air?

You call the airline that you are actually going to fly.

You could call either airline. It also may be because it is so far out. But when you do buy the tickets and you can't get seat assignments call the airline.
