United Airlines - in-seat video?

I've been mostly flying on Delta the last couple years, but for our upcoming trip I'm back on United, using frequent-flier miles. I've gotten spoiled with those in-seat video screens on Delta, I especially like the map that tracks where the plane is at any moment.

So my question - does United have this on any of their aircraft yet? If not, I'll be sure to bring my compass to at least keep track of which direction we're going at any moment.

Thanks.

I should add... if you're heading to Orlando, your only choice is a Ted flight, which are the airbus planes. Check out flyted.com for more info.

We are flying Delta tomorrow. I was wondering do all planes have the in seat tv's?

Oh ok she mentioned flying delta with them, so I thought maybe they changed to them since there was talk of it when they took over song.

If you're flying cross country, and you're on a 757, there's a good chance you will be on one of the old Song planes with the video screens.

If you do, check out the in-flight trivia game. It's tough, but an enjoyable way to pass a little time and compete with your fellow travellers.

Not all flights are Ted. My last two flights in/out of MCO were true United flights... one 757 and one A320.

It was a non-stop to/from LAX, so maybe that's the difference.

Thanks - I only look at the flights out of Chicago, and those are always Ted. (I happen to like the Ted flights quite a lot!)

I also suspect United offers mainline aircraft (e.g. non-Ted) on the MCO-LAX routes so that the upper-level Disney execs can have a first-class cabin when flying between Orlando and the L.A. area offices--Anaheim, Burbank or Glendale. I think I saw in an older thread that United is Disney's preferred airline for business travel. So that might be one reason (but probably not the only one) for the mainline United aircraft on this route.

Back to the question from the OP. If you really wanted to get the in-seat video on a United transcon. There is one daily United flight from LAX to IAD that is the 777 with in-seat video. Two years ago, I did one flight as LAX-IAD-MCO. I was adding on extra segments on flights to qualify for United's Premier status and the LAX-IAD flight was the 777. I'm doing the reverse of this on my return flight for our trip in March and specifically picked the flight with the 777 aircraft on the segment out of IAD. :)
