United Airlines and baggage fee exemption at Resort Check-In

I read on wdwinfo.com that guests flying United are exempt from checked bagged fees at Resort Check-In. Does anyone know if this deal is still in effect? We'll be visiting WDW via United in April and this would save us some money!

I have never heard this and we fly only United. We have the United credit card and our baggage fees are waived but we are asked every time to show the card when we check in our bags. I would love to hear from someone else if this is true. We have a large group going in November, all flying United.

United's baggage fees are waived by RAC for guests who have status with United that waives baggage fees.

So when we were all on the same reservation with DH, who gets two 70 lb bags checked free for EACH person on the reservation with United, we got our bags checked free.

But if we hadn't been traveling with him we wouldn't have gotten that.

I remember they were doing that when Resort Check-in first started. I thought I heard they stopped it. Not sure, I don't fly United.

Okay, that's very old information:

"Guests who are flying on Alaska Airlines or JetBlue may check one bag per person. Additional checked bags on these carriers require a payment of a fee.

Guests flying United Airlines who use the Resort Check-In are currently exempt from the airline's checked bag fee. (This is subject to change at any time.)

Guests who are flying on AirTran**, American, Continental, Delta**, Northwest or USAirways need to pay the airline's checked bag fee for all luggage prior to utilizing the Resort Check-In service. If this fee is not paid in advance, the bags will need to be checked by you upon arrival at the airport.
**AirTran and Delta charge for the first checked bag."

Continental and (technically) United no longer exist. They're both part of USAirways. Nortwest is Defunct. Southwest has participated in RAC (resort airline check-in) for several years but isn't listed in that blurb at all. AirTran is almost gone. But what's most interesting is, American was the first airline to start charging for even the first checked bag - but they're not asterisked .

Ummm… no. United and Continental merged and now operate under only the United name. US Airways and American also merged, and eventually will operate only under the American name.

Yikes! What a treasure trove of obsolete misinformation and information that was never correct! Does WDWinfo have anyone whose job it is to maintain such pages?

As has already been noted in this thread, there is no special baggage fee exemption when using Resort Airline Check-in (RAC) for a United Airlines flight.

RAC ties in to the participating airlines' computer systems. It's exactly the same as using a skycap at the airport. You are responsible for the same baggage fees. If you would be exempt at the airport for any reason (such as frequent flyer status, airline credit card, or class of service), you are also exempt at RAC. For everyone else, Disney has a process to accept baggage fee payments. Also, tipping the RAC skycap is always appropriate.
