Hi, I am interested in some of the unique ways everone has came up with the money for your disney vacation and how long in advance do you start planning and making reservations. I know with a family of 4 and a limited budget we start planning and making reservations about 1 year in advance. We are going in Dec of this year and staying at ASMo I used a AAA discount for the room and saved $150.00 on a 9 night stay and getting ready to mail in my last payment on the room that I have paid for completely by saving up our change from our pockets every day. I ordered universal tickets when they had the deal back in Dec. for the Florida Kiss special 3day tickets for $85.00. I just got our MVMCP tickets Monday will pay the credit card bill for these with money I have made selling books on the web. Will purchase 5 day hopper passes from AAA next month and pay for them with our pocket change, since already have enough for room. I have started purchasing gift cert. for resturants to save and use for our trip. I also do mypoints to earn gift cert. that way. Would like to hear from all of you on this.

Congratulations on a great job of saving, Deana! My DH travels a lot on business, so we are able to use frequent-flyer miles and hotel rewards points for some of our trips. I bought a 5-day PHP with 4 plus options from Florida Orlando Tickets for my solo trip in December, and I bought someone's unused Connections Quick and Casual vouchers to save money on some meals. Now I just need a lunch buddy to share the meals!

I really need to de-clutter my house and have a garage sale before the summer ends. In general - I try to cut back on nonessential spending at home when I know I'll have some larger than usual credit card bills to pay after a vacation. We'll have to get used to belt-tightening in the fall anyway, as our oldest will begin college.

You might want to get the Orlando Magic card - free from the tourist board. It has tons of discounts at attractions, restaurants, and hotels. Since it costs nothing, if you don't use it - no loss.

There was a website I'd have to search for now that lets you bid on gift certificates, dinner shows, and attractions tickets. We got a $25 gift certificate for supper at an Irish pub for less than half off.

Uncle Sam pays for our trip every year!! I use our tax refund to fund a large portion of our trip. It has worked for us so far!!

I have always loved horses and I became interested in the sport of horseracing about 5 years ago, well..it went from a casual interest to a part-time job for me, I started learning about the sport, do some online analysis for a horse racing website and learned how to manage my money to make a profit. I am happy to say, that I have been winning enough to pay for our trip last year and this year is 1/2 paid off, all from my winnings at horseracing. Some of it is from handicapping contests I have won and some of it is from picking winners at the track. It takes some work because though luck is involved at times, knowledge is also a huge factor, and though its totally fun to me, I approach it as a job, and most of the time it pays off. So, I think this is a pretty unique way to fund a trip. Oh don't worry, I am not one of those people who bet their paycheck on # 5 in the 6th....I am a gambler who bets a total bet of about $6. But sometimes $6 gets me $1000, and on average it gets me $30-40.
