Anybody have any unique souvenir ideas when visiting the World? We will be in Epcot and MK as well as visiting DTD. Last year I picked a pearl out of an oyster in Japan. It was a beautiful blue color. I had it set in a silver setting for a necklace. I love it! Have you found a unique souvenir that you love? What is it and where in the WORLD ;) did you find it?

I love love love my monorail magnet. I drive my dbf crazy whenever I press the button...and it says por favor mantengerse allejada de las puertas:rotfl: :rotfl:

Last year I was looking for this same magnet and was told to look in the gift shop at the Contemporary Resort. I made a special trip over there after it, just to have the cast member laugh and say they had been discontinued several years ago. He said he didn't know why they were discontinued, because people come in all the time asking for them. He too thought they were cute souvineers. He suggested I try looking on ebay when I got home. I've tried, but haven't had any luck so far.

My sister in law always brings home one of the watercolor prints of the different properties. She gets the 11x14 size and she added them to her hallway.

My daughter will be on a hunt for souvies from Japan this trip. She loves the little good luck cats. She got one last year and would like to add to her collection.
My son will be looking in the UK shop hoping to get some Beatles stuff. He's a huge fan.
DH loves to just explore the World Showcase area and take photos. He told me that this year he would like to spend more time in the church in Norway.
I'm thinking of getting another pearl from an oyster.
Any more fun Souvenir ideeas?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I got it at world of disney probably 4 or five years ago. I wanna get another one this year...just in case something ever it happens to this one.

Do you mind giving some info on the good luck cats? It sounds like something my dd would really like.

Sure! They are little plush cats made from kimono material. They vary in size from about 4 inches to 18" or so. They are in various poses. Some are fishing, holding a drum, etc.. They come in a beautiful array of colors and patterns. DD bought a 4" last year raising it's left paw and smiling, very cute. If I have time I will take a photo today. Today is DD's 13th birthday!:cheer2:

I second that -- we were at WDW during the Flower & Garden Festival and DD was drawn to a booth with tons of matted art. We picked out three, and a woman working in the booth said "Would you like Larry to sign those?"

Turns out Larry Dotson was actually there and wrote personalized messages to us on the mattes! We're going to frame them and put them in our basement when we have it finished.

I saw the prints in the gift shop at AKL also. THE BEST souvenier!! :thumbsup2

ETA: this was my 3,000th post! :yay:

Thanks so much, sounds like my dd will definitely love those.

Happy B-day to your dd :cheer2:

Every trip we take I try to find an ornament for your Christmas tree. DTD makes it very easy.

At WDW I bought drawings of Cinderella's Castle, POTC, and HM by Larry Dotson. You can check out his website and find out if he will be there at WDW to sign during your trip. I bought my pics at Epcot. I can't remember the name of the place but it is off to the right after entering there is all kinds of Disney Art. I lucked out and he was there and got my pics signed.

I just checked his website, he will be in Epcot when I am there! I'll deinitely check this out, thank you for the tip!

No problem! His pics are beautiful! He was there in the evening, I think you can call and get the specific hours if it is not on the website. The name of the store is Art of Disney. Slipped my mind earlier!

Have a great trip!

Over the years these have been some of my favorites:

Handmade Wooden Puzzle Boxes - These are beautiful and require up to 21 steps to open by sliding pieces in the correct order. Japan in WS.

Graphite Sculptures - Small sculptures made of actual graphite. You can actually write with them and they don't smudge on your hand. Found at the La Nouba shop.

Inukshuk Carving - Canada, WS. Made of soapstone these carvings which literally mean "man substitute" are replicas of the giant stone ones used by the Inuit as markers or in hunting. Very soft, so be careful in handling.

Ponchos - Mexico, WS. Very inexpensive at $20 and comfortable.

Margherita Glasses - Mexico, WS. In that famous blue tint, very festive.

Painted Ostrich Eggs - AKL resort store.

Brass mirrors, wooden mirrors and Thuya wood products - Morocco, WS. Thuya is one of the most beautiful woods and is used in luxury automobiles.

Helly Hansen Jackets - Norway, WS. Light and very water resistant.

Pewter steins/glasses - Germany, WS.

All I can think of for now, every year I'm on the prowl for unusual items.

We got several items that we felt were very unique to our WDW trip, they never fail to remind of us of our very first visit! :goodvibes

We bought WDW "Mickey" Dice (the kind you hang on your car rear-view mirror) at MK. They are to cool (and a little retro)... black dice with white Mickey Heads instead of the typical dots!

In MK our DS got the really cool skull that you stuff full of pirate "stuff" (gold and silver POTC coins, rings with "gem stones", pirate eye-patches, big eyeballs, dice, rubber insects, sticky scars, ect...), coming off of POTC (in the gift shop). This is one cool souvenier!:woohoo: It was about $20.00 for the skull if I remember correctly, and you get to stuff it full of the "pirate loot"! We didn't realize the eyes should have been stuffed inside the skull as we were filling it (we got one of several from the shelf with eyes intact). The CM lauged as we checked out (with oodles of other items... he spent quite a bit there), she told us the eyes should have been inside, so I offered to go "unstuff" him, put the eyes inside, and stuff back what we could, but she wouldn't hear of it! It is very unique, I have never seen anything like it before.

I loved Mr. Potato Head growing up so of course I bought a couple (the big plastic one and the smaller box with the Potato Head and parts). It is fun and unique to Disney, because of all of the awesome Disney themed parts! I love when the nieces visit, as they always switch my MPH clothes/accessories. I keep them displayed on my big oak roll-top desk (lots of room on the top) and they make me smile!

WDW lanyards and pins! We bought "oodles" and traded many!

DH and I just recently started a WDW tradition. We pick out a piece of glassware or Xmas ornament and have it etched with the dates of our trip. Last Oct. we got matching wine glasses ( 1 Minnie and 1 Mickey) etched, since it was our first F & W Fest.

they are not unique but i HAVE to get new xmas ornaments...then we come home and order more online for our blended family.
