I need some advice and help. I am having a afternoon/evening reception. But not having a DJ. My family doesn't really dance. We will have music in the background but I do not want my guests bored.

I think Janine had a caracturist(sp) at her wedding? that sounded like such a cool idea and would give your guests some really great favours!

Where are you ahving your reception? Is it in a ballroom or a themed location? i went to a wedding recently where they had the actual reception in an old bingo hall so they made up a silly wedding version of bingo which was good fun and really got guests talking etc - prehaps you could do something themed around your location?

some of the different things we did that our guests are still talking about were Mickey & Minnie, cinderella's slipper dessert, confetti cannons, cinderella's castle light spotting on the wall and our food choices.
Disney has so many options to make the reception fun and unforgettable.
Just being in Disney makes it special.
Good Luck planning.

A friend of ours in NY had a photographer just for guests, all the guests got to have there pictures taken as many times as they wanted (goofy ones or special ones) and he put them on a magnet and you received it right then. I still have mine and they are fun to have hanging around.

Maybe you could do a picture show of you & DF over the years! How about somethings that you and your DH love to do together or are special to you both as a couple in some way . . . for example, you could have your favorite movie playing in the background, etc.
How about make you own candy apples or decorate your own Mickey shaped cookies!
Have poloroid cameras for guests to take pics and have them make a scrapbook/wedding album during the reception.
Sorry, I am rambling, but it has been a long day!

Ohhh! A magician would be wonderful and with the nickname and all it sounds perfect! You could even have the magician get your guests involved and do some tricks that would involve personal touches.

I am so excited! I know it is going to be an amazing wedding!!!!:yay:

As Laura mentioned I had a caricature artist. I also had a magician come too.

The magician came first, before & after dinner. He stayed for about 2 hours and was fabulous. After the magician left the caricature artist came. Boy what a laugh he was. He really had my guests in stitches. He gave them all a large portrait of themselves, mostly with some kind of funny scenario sketched for them, fed by titbits of information from other guests. It also made a fantastic gift for each person that attended.
They were both worth every penny, but particularly the caricature artist.
You can also hire balloon artists too.
You cannot hire them out if you are dining in a restaurant. It has to be in private.
