Unique reason for delayed flight

This was a new one for me. Had a 5:40 AM flight yesterday on JetBlue. The pilot came out and announced that he had left his iPad in his hotel room 30 minutes away and as it had navigation information on it, we had to wait while it was brought to the airport by a taxi. Nothing like getting up at 3:30 AM to get to the airport for a flight that was delayed by almost an hour. Luckily I did not have a connection. They did take one passenger off the flight since she would miss hers, and asked those of us without a tight connection to stay seated until some passengers got off after landing.

Arrrgh, that stinks. Pilot probably panicked. He’d have some big-time explaining to do. Read those commercial ipad/apps (designed to less hackable) for navigation and weather updates are priced in low five figures.

I've had a plane with no flight crew (which I thought was strange) but yours is definitely a new one....

I was on a flight somewhat recently where the pilot needed to go retrieve passports of crew members or something like that. It was really weird.

We had a flight delayed once because one of the (2) bathrooms didn't work. They never could get it to work so they told everyone to use the bathroom before we took off, or you may have to hold it. It was a very short flight, thankfully.

Oh, and you will love this one. It wasn't my flight but last week there was a flight delayed landing here. It was the flight we take often, last flight of the night. Lands about 12:15 AM. Well, seems someone turned the runway lights off when they left for the night so the plane couldn't land! They are supposed to place them on Pilot Control mode so the pilot can turn them on when they approach but instead they flipped them to Off. Plane couldn't land and didn't have fuel to circle till someone got there to turn them back on. They had to turn around and go back to Atlanta, refuel, and then come back. Flight ended up landing about 90 min late. Gotta love small airports.

Some crazy stories here. The most weird thing that happened to me was we boarded the plane and after it was almost full they come on to the speaker and said everyone had to get off the plane because the flight crew hadn't arrived yet and we weren't suppose to be on the plane until the crew got on and inspected everything. Someone made a big mistake.

I also had a flight that was soooooo delayed the inbound crew didn't realize they were going to fly it until they landed (they had figured by the second aborted take off in Indy, that the airline would just have the auxiliary crew brought in). I totally eavesdropping and there were some expletives and the pilot and at least one flight attendant had maxed out on hours....so they had to wake someone up to fly us home. He was soooo not happy (also that's the fastest and highest I've ever flown between DC and Manchester NH)

Would they have let you use the functioning lavatory?

I was on a flight a few years ago from Las Vegas to Central IL (so not a super short flight) that was delayed over an hour because one of the 2 lavatories was broken and they couldn’t get it fixed. But they said we could use the other lavatory if we needed to. Of course I was in row 3 and the malfunctioning lav was the front one...I just held it.

Yes but with only 1 for the entire plane they were worried about folks needing it and it being occupied.

I had a flight delayed for mechanical issues. They brought a new plane in to pick us up. 5 hours later. Well when the new plane gets there it was an almost two hour delay before we could board because "headquarters" needed to change the name of the pilot for the flight and apparently that took two hours.

I wonder if they had polled 1st class passengers, how many would have voted to leave without the bagels?

Just remembered another flight we had that was delayed departing for a reason that never did make any sense.
Seemed there was 1 person too many on our flight. So they announced for "Joe Smith" to please come off the plane. "Joe Smith" never responded. They kept asking, finally said they could not depart until "Joe Smith" got off the flight, that he was on the wrong flight, so we would sit there. Finally, "Joe Smith" walked off (he'd had headphones on). First, I wondered, how did "Joe Smith" get on the flight if he didn't belong on the flight, don't they scan and let them on? Second, and where it got more strange, he came back on before we took of.

Here's hoping for an uneventful and normal departure tomorrow. We should be wheels up 24 hours from right this moment
