Unique question for retired workers

My mother in law is going on vacation to Florida and planning a day at MK with her sister. Her sister is a retired worker and has complimentary tickets (I’m not sure if the complimentary ticket includes my mil or not). My mil is wondering if she will have a park hopper included in her ticket (if she’s included in the free ticket). If not, I’m thinking AK may be the better choice as she loves animals. Her only reason for doing MK was the fireworks. She’s 65 and has never been to Florida and the heat may be extreme in summer.

Most comp Cast tickets were park hoppers. They may need to check if the tickets require reservations.

Yes they have to reserve ahead of time. Apparently MK isn’t available on the date they want. So could they go to Al for the morning then pop over to MK?

Not sure. I do know some Cast admissions are blocked from the MK in July due to the new parade, not sure if it includes comp tickets. They may be able to hop as long as the park is open to hopping (unlikely it's not). Best to ask at Guest Relations when they arrive or try and call prior.

I personally find AK the most difficult park in the heat. It is hot, there seem to be fewer AC duck ins and lots of walking on uneven and even sightly hilly terrain. Even my husband who usually uses a rollator has to do a scooter at AK (which makes three of us!)

If its fireworks that is the draw, why is she not considering EpCot? If she's not a kid at heart, that might be a good choice. Not too far between air conditioning, good food, usually feels less crowded, and great nighttime show. The attractions, while appealing to all ages are also little less child centered.

Our Annual Pass requires MK reservations due to the new parade, but we can still park hop after 2 p.m. I'm not sure if we have to admit to our reserved park prior to going to MK...haven't had to up until now.

I believe you do have to go to the original park with a reservation first and tap in.

So if I call guest relations, they should be able to answer my question… do all retired complementary tickets have the same perks? Because If not there’s no point calling.

Yes, you’d have to go to your reserved park. It’s not park hopping if you don’t tap into your reserved park.

Can they change parks after 2pm?

You no longer have to wait until 2 pm to hop. You just have to tap into your reserved park then you can hop at any time. However, it may depend if CM reservations are just full, or if they’re blocked that day. If CM tickets are blocked that particular date, they *may* not even be able to park hop to MK. I don’t know anything about CM tickets, maybe someone else can comment. Or her sister should verify if the ticket is blocked out for hopping to MK. They may be able to hop to Epcot or Studios, but not MK.

She doesn’t want to seem like she is expecting to be taken to the park without paying…they have an odd relationship so I’m trying to find out for her.
