Unique Disney World Traditions??

I love the one about telling Walt and Mickey goodbye. I am such an emotional person that I would cry all the way down Main street! LOL I love hearing all the traditions. One I forgot to add was listening to mouseworld raido on my iphone as my trip approaches.

I love reading all of these!! :goodvibes

Ours are:

1) MK is the first and last park - and yes, I am always bawling like an idiot on our last walk down Main St while leaving the park.

2) We have to get our obligatory "sleeping on ToT" picture every year, where we all pretend to be sleeping on the ToT, one of our faves.

3) DD9 is addicted to Mickey head ice cream bars, so when she gets her first of many on the trip, that's a pic!

4) We make Photobooks after every trip, which we are always so excited to design and see how they come out!!

5) Also, for whatever reason, we can never get a pic in front of the castle without DD7 crying or frowning....5 years running....I don't know what we'd so if she actually smiled in that pic, but I don't think we want to know...it's funny now!!!

Back when they did the hand-stamp as you left the park, my tradition was on the last day, as we left the park, to be sure I got my hand stamped, just tolet everyone know "I will be back". Even when they first did away with that (around 2000), I'd hunt down a CM who had the stamper and insist on getting my hand stamped. Now I have this T-shirt that DS bought me, and I always wear it at least once a trip. Although he got it in Alaska, it's a cute Mickey shirt.

DH reminded me of 4 more (wow we have alot of traditions LOL)

- First day at MK we eat at Pinocchio in the seats overlooking Small World so DD can wave. She counts how many ppl wave back to her.

-First day at EPCOT we eat at Tangerine Cafe.

-We have a growth chart picture of sort also but with Alice. Since we have been taking DD, we have a pic of her w/ Alice.

-We do "Pick a Pearl" in the Japan pavillon at EPCOT. When she was 2, her oyster had 2 pearls so we got earrings made. Last time at 3, she picked an oyster with 2 pearls again so we got her a pendant necklace made. So in a few weeks we will see what she picks this next time (maybe a ring or bracelet. On her 18th birthday we will give her what we collected with a photo album of what age we got what.

Sadly, one of our traditions isn't available anymore: Our last night at Fort Wilderness we always went to Trail's End/Crockets Tavern for pizza and to enjoy the guy who sang there. Been a number of years since he's been there {:--(. A more recent tradition is to have dinner at O'hanas on our first night.

We always go to DHS on our arrival day, because DD says it is more magical to do MK at RD on our first full day. This became a tradition by accident, but now it is locked in as our must-do routine!

We always get a picture by the PP photographers on Main Street, but instead of the Castle in the background, we turn around and have Main Street Station in the Background, since DH is a huge train buff. We have a whole series of them through the years.

We eat dinner at Rose & Crown every trip, and watch IllumiNations from the patio there.

We always play the Fantasmic music as we drive under the welcome sign on to WDW property; I tear up every time!

We always eat at Cosmic Rays at least once per trip and make sure to sit through an entire set of Sonny Eclipse - we can sing all the songs with him by now!

I am so excited for our trip now - one month away! :cool1:

My daughter and I always get a mother-daughter picture while we're on the carousel. It's been really fun through the years to watch her grow.

Can't wait to take another one in a week!!!!

We visit MK on the first and last day.

Last night is always Trails End followed by a trip to MK for the fireworks

Magic Kingdom is always our first park and we wrap up the last night with fireworks. Always always always!!

We don't have a lot of traditions yet, since this will be my son's first time and only my husbands 2nd time.

But I have a few traditions that I will do to pay homage to my grandparents who took me so often when I was a kid and rode ALL the rides with me( including Thunder Railroad). Small World, Carousal of Progress, Peter Pan and Pirates will all be ridden at the MK and Space Ship Earth and The Maelstrom will be ridden at Epcot. Would love to ride Horizions because that was my grandpas' favorite, but we all know what happened with that one....

As for new family traditions - we will see! Character Meals, starting at the MK, and riding Peter Pan may be the start to our traditions. Also getting a Christmas ornament.

Have fun making memories on your sons first trip!

Awesome thread-my unique tradition is that I never leave the Magic Kingdom without getting a "High Four" from a cast member. It started with the cool white Mickey gloves, but even after the gloves were not worn by the exits as often, I still kept the High 4 tradition going and ask any cast member by the exit for a High 4...with or without the Mickey gloves =)

We always throw pennies into and make wishes at the Epcot fountain. And, we purchase a couple of lucky cats in Japan. :goodvibes

We actually have two. One: I take a picture of my wife and daughter sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch in Liberty Square. Have one when she was 3,5,7,8, and this year (in 30 days) will be 9 :) Two: Every year, my daughter and I hide a penny in EPCOT. Every year, we go back and see if we can find it. I don't want to say where we hide it, or where we move it to, but it has been at EPCOT since 2008 and it is still going strong ;) Lsst year we thought it was a goner, but we found it after some extensive looking :)

Eating at Planet Hollywood! The food isn't the best but we love the atmosphere!

Also, we hold hands and "jump" into the magic kingdom on our first. "Jumping feet first into the magic"

On arrival day we go to DTD and load up on doughnuts and cupcakes from Babycakes. The doughnuts are our breakfasts for mornings without ADRs and once a trip we do a "Wine and Cupcake" night overlooking the AKL savannah.

I buy a Mickey's Mini Garden each trip -- They're all still alive!

I take a purposefully dorky picture next to the Betty White bust in DHS.

I go say "hi" to MacGyver, my favorite goat at Affection Section. :lmao:

Last night late dinner at Cali Grill to get one last look at the MK before we leave.

That's so cool! I won't steal your penny but I may steal your idea! :thumbsup2

We have various traditions, including always spending our last night at MK and fireworks and watching the castle for a while on our way out. Always a few tears on my part, while my DD23 laughs a little telling me 'you know we'll be back next year, it's ok! lol. And we used to always to her pic sitting on Minnie's couch in Minnie's house down in toontown. So sad that area and their houses are gone now - that was a fave thing of ours to go hang out in Minnie and Mickey's houses a little each visit!

I would love to hear your families unique Disney traditions. We have a few but one is that we always go to DTD get Ghiradelli and then wash our hands at the Basin, we just love the salt and sugar scrubs there (especially DH who usually hates that kind of stuff!). In fact DD asked if we could get DH some basin scrub for Christmas, I considered then said "No, we wouldn't have it to look forward to when we are at DTD!". What are your traditions?

For me, I HAVE to do;
1- One Mickey ice cream cone or share a sundae from Main Street Ice Cream Parlor
2- See Ariel
3- Laugh Floor with Monsters Inc.

or else I explode from the inside out holding in all the Disney love. LOL.
