Unimpressive

There is no other place on earth like Disney...it is so different than the normal "ride parks." What I love most about DIsney is that while I am there with my kids, I get to feel like a kid again :) Ditto for my own mother. I really don't set high expectations for new attractions because half the fun is just being in the Disney environment. It is harder for adults to be as awed though as we once were at 7, when I remember Pirates of the Carribean being my favorite!

Please don't think that I am a total pessimist or a Scrooge or anything, I'm not.

I really enjoy some of the new attractions (as well as the updated older ones). I loved Test Track! That ride is the perfect upgrade to the World of Motion attraction. Well done!

The new Living Seas is well done, too. I was worried that Finding Nemo would be overbearing... but it wasn't at all. It fit in quite well.

The new Small World... all I can say is WOW. That ride was seriously in need of something more than just a fresh painting. Again, well done.

20,000 Leagues.... um... let's not go there. :sad2:

I am really REALLY looking forward to Everest! Animal Kingdom is seriously in need of some themed ride other than the Kali River Rapids. From what I saw when I was there (the detail is AMAZING - icicles hanging from the tracks for instance), this ride should be very well done!

I would just like to see that kind of detail and thought put into more of what Disney does. It seems like some of their stuff is done on the cheap; and that's a shame.

Maybe it was about the expectations, or maybe it was all about the missing magic.

*** WARNING *** Spoilers ahead for those who have not been on Soarin'

The harsh scene breaks between all the different California locals is what failed to impress me. The music would swell and the scenery would abruptly change! First we were over the ocean, suddenly we were up in the mountains watching skiers, then we were in the middle of the desert avoiding test pilots. Akward at best.

That was exactly what bothered me once the ride was over. The night before we rode Soarin', we had gone to see the Reflections of China and O Canada films at the World Showcase, and really enjoyed the sense of being swept away into the 360-degree films. For me, Soarin' added to that by taking us up into the air, but the abrupt scene changes spoiled the effect a little. It was my wife's favorite ride of the week, but for me it didn't quite lived up to the hype. I wish we'd had time to wait for another FastPass to see if I had the same reaction on a second ride.
