Obviously the shooter has been a very messed-up person for a long time. He wasn't even born when apartheid-era South Africa and Rhodesia existed, yet he seeks out those patches for his jacket?

There IS racism in this country, and this is a loud and clear example. They exist. We must acknowledge it or we will never move past it.

The way I see it , doesn't matter the color of people. He had no reason to do this. I know these people are in a better place. He needed to be brought to justice. Prayers going out to the families.

He made it very clear that his intent was a depraved, racist act of mass murder.

He massacred those people because he is a racist. I don't know if they have the death penalty down there, if they do I hope he gets it.
My thoughts are with the families of the victims, and all the survivors who witnessed what he did.

I'm way behind on the coverage on this. Last news report I heard identified the shooter. I learned on this thread he'd been caught, which is a relief. Sickening story, just sickening. Impossible to make sense out of something like this.

I hope they throw the book at him... twice.

But you're right. Not to mention that initial reports state that he appears to have a criminal record and the firearm was apparently given to him by a relative as a present, so it's quite possible that existing gun control laws may have been already violated in this case.
