We have eaten at Rainforest Cafe sporadically throughout the years. The food has always been just OK but our kids LOVED the jungle creatures. That being said....we were in for a HUGE surprise this year!

We arrived at the AK RFC at about 11:30 on Tuesday afternoon. We were immediately seated next to the zebra in the gorilla room. We perused the menus and found there were some new items. For an appetizer we ordered the pita quesidillas and the crab dip. When they came out they were HUGE! The crab dip was hot and bubbly and crunchy on the edges, paired with the hot, crisp tortilla chips - it was bliss. The pitas were overflowing with cheese, onions, peppers and chicken. There was sour cream and pico de gallo to garnish them with.....yummmm, both appetizers were so good! Now for lunch!

My hubby opted for the new shrimp platter and I had the Mogambo shrimp (as usual), and my 3 year old had the macaroni and cheese with buttered corn.

My hubby's dish was just incredible! I can't say enough about it! There were 6 ENORMOUS coconut shrimp on skewers, 5 crab stuffed, bacon wrapped shrimp, and a huge bowl of shrimp scampi! There were sides of fresh veggies and black beans and rice. The dipping sauces were lemon based and coconut/bbq based. The flavors blended so well and the platter was just HUGE!

My Magambo shrimp came out and it was also very large. There is usually about 8 - 10 shrimp in the dish tops. Well, I counted *18* shrimp this time! It was wonderfully flavorful with JUST enough sauce to make it perfect. It also came with 2 large slices of italian spiced bread (I am sure it is called fescata, or something but I am too lazy to look it up. :rolleyes1 ) It was so very good.

My son has the standard Macaroni and cheese and corn. Nothing special but it was a King's feast to a 3 year old. :teeth:

I have to give this restaurant 5 out of 5 stars on this trip. If you haven't tried RFC in awhile, give it a shot and get that INCREDIBLE shrimp dish...you won't be sorry!!!

Thank you. It's nice to see something positive other than the decor about this restraunt.

Enjoyed reading your review - Thanx for sharing.

Sounds like you had a wonderful dinner. Thanks for telling us about it. :)

Thanks for the review, I had written off going to RFC while at Ak because of so many bad reviews, but may have to change plans now. Thanks again!!!

Thanks for the review!
We like RFC at Ak for lunch because it is such a nice break from the hot park. We have never really hated the food, but it nice to hear how much you enjoyed it. :thumbsup2

My kids love eating at the Rain Forest Cafe especially since we don't have one in our town. I'm a little sad it's not on the dining plan. I'm glad your family had a nice meal. :thumbsup2

My DD (14) often gets either the crab dip or the quesidilla as her entree at RFC. To me, it's kind of like McDonalds. You know what you're going to get, because it's been the same at every RFC I've eaten at. Is it the most unique food in the world? No, but at least it's consistent.

Glad you enjoyed it!

We ate at RFC twice during our 10 night stay last week. We always love the decor, and enjoy the food. We did try the shrimp pizza this time, and we weren't that crazy about it. But the pita quesadillas (my free app. with the Safari Club card..) are always super! And my 4yo dd loved her $6 ICEE in the huge sipper mug & animal in the bottom cup!

I love RFC and look forward to going there on our next trip. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the crab dip!!!

I don't mind that it's not on the DDP because I just use GC I earn from mypoints.

I'm glad you had such a great experience.

My girls love RFC too! We'll be eating there next week!!! Can't wait! Glad you had a great time!

We ate there last week (mainly for ambience, as my DS 2 loves it. I am not usually thrilled with the food...we have one here at MOA and we go quite often (again, for DS). Anyway, I have to say this was the BEST meal I have ever had there!

I had the Bamba's BBQ Wrap. VERY good!

My DD18 remembers me taking her to a RFC once at West Edmonton Mall and she is dying to go again. Since it is not on the DDP, we are going on our 11th day. Thanks for the :thumbsup2 quesidilla (?sp). I was thinking of having that.
