I'll be sailin' out in one week (less if you go by hours!), but for some reason, I'm having a bout of pre-cruise jitters! I think alot of it has to do with being worried that some of our family members who aren't big Disney lovers will not enjoy themselves like I plan on doing...thus, making me a bit sensitive to their comments. I'm such a people-pleaser that I want to make everything go smoothly, but I know this is out of my hands. Any last minute advice to make those jitters swim out to sea?? ;)

:p IVY :p

There's other areas of the ship that aren't Disneyed out if you know what I mean. There's the new adult cafe or the adult only areas they can escape being Disneyed out. There's always Palo, the Spa, parts of CC, and your ports of call! :cool2: Don't stress, maybe they'll become Disney addicts after your trip! Have fun!

IVY listen to Taeja! LOL She was on my 0919 cruise. I am looking forward to our cruise next week, but I too am a little nervous, because of my DS 1 1/2. Should be interesting

I would say a good desciption is elegant or understated Disney. The references are there but they're not blatant. I think classy is also a word that describes the ships really well.

Your relatives will be fine and have a great time unless they're one of the few people who DON'T smile when they see Mickey Mouse. The characters and "Disney" part of the activities just remind me of my childhood and make the trip a little more special.

Well, your relatives know that they are going on a Disney cruise, right? So they are aware that they may see kids having fun sometimes. And they will probably run into Mickey at some point. And that it will be easy for them to "give in" and become kids for the week or if they want to "avoid" the Disney there will be plenty of opportunities to do so.

Keep them focused on how beautiful the ocean is, the exciting ports of call that they get to visit, that they get to eat very good food and abundantly. That there is spa to enjoy, sports bars, comedy, broadway caliber shows, etc. Everyone should be having so much fun, for those that don't like Disney so much, they'll be able to forget all about it.

and ultimately, even though you "know that this is out of your hands" give yourself permission to truly enjoy your vacation. I mean give yourself permission to let go of the jitters and to acknowledge that every person is responsible for their own happiness. They make a choice to make the best or worst of a situation. You are excited, you have been planning like crazy, and you deserve to have a wonderful vacation, and you will not allow yourself to experience anything less!

We just got back and although we are total Disney freaks, we didn't do much 'Disney' on the ship.

I will confess that we didn't go to a single show, nope, not one.

We played batgammon in Diversions several times, napped on deck 10 above the quiet cove pool, shopped, went into Nassau and shopped, walked around on deck and just enjoyed relaxing.

The kid-layden trip that we expected was not anywhere to be seen. There are SO many adult areas that there is no reason to be over Disneyfied.

We noticed that the DCL attracts a mellow adult crowd. We didn't see anyone acting drunk and rude anywhere on the ship. It was quiet and a wonderful get-away.

They will love it, don't spend another second worried. Go buy a new bathing suit and pack more sunscreen. Enjoy!

We didn't go to any shows either, but more because we really didn't have enough time.

We spent time with new friends (hi Nancy & Joe  ) and just relaxing.

Can't wait for next time.

Unless they're total poops, they'll enjoy it. We almost had to go out of our way to see the characters.

Hi Ivy!
I sent you a follow-up PM.

Re: your family, hand them each a navigator, and let them find the activities that will please them. Some of them may just enjoy a week soaking up the sun by the adult pool! Make sure you plan days that you will enjoy; your family members can converge and go separately as each sees fit! Good luck!

Have a Magical cruise!!!!::yes::

I really think you should give yourself permission to be excited and enjoy yourself!! Personally, I'd make everyone responsible for their own enjoyment---what they do or don't want to do and whether or not they have fun doing it. You have given them a wonderful opportunity to have fun; it's up to them if they want to take advantage of that opportunity. I sure hope you can relax and enjoy yourself; you deserve it. Besides, how can anyone go on a Disney cruise and not have fun??

I bet they will have a great time- it sounds like their expaectations are not too high- so they will probably be very pleasantly surprised. And if not- you just make sure you don't let that rain on your tea party!
