Unexpected Guest

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this before and can tell me what to expect. We will be at CSR Mar 15-20, and just found out that a close friend is going to be in Orlando during part of that time. Can we have them register at the front desk and beable to use our room with us? He already has tickets to the parks from previous visits. I seem to have read that if they are registered through the front desk there is a charge for additional adult, but not anyhting else.
