Unexpected Celebrity Treatment! TONS OF PICS!!!! UPDATED 3/22 - 50's PT and Fantasmic

Okay! I'm back on track! Sorry for the delay! Now let's see where was I??? Ah yes! EPCOT!

So since every member of my family has a Disney Visa (haha...would you have expected any different :rotfl: ?), we decided to get a picture taken together. There was some special for Disney Visa Card Members...but I don't remember exactly what it was all about. Anyway, here are some pics of our group:

So after we got these pictures taken it was time for our lunch....AT LE CELLIER!!! I was so excited for this lunch because I had read so much about the food there and seen so many delicious pictures! Now it was my turn! Yay!

Sadly I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the other food because my parents were getting embarrassed....they just don't understand us DISers :rolleyes2

But I did get a snapshot of the desserts! My grandparents got one for their anniversary, naturally...but they also gave us two more so that we could all have some! One was for my aunt nancy's bday...and the other was for my aunt marybeth's anniversary (which was that day and her husband didn't come along on the trip! oh well, at least she still got to have a dessert! he'll be sorry). My grandparents also got a Year of a Million Dreams certificate that all of the CM's signed!

Afterward, we decided to take pictures in front of the beautiful scenery!

Not much else happened during the day...until that evening! We had VIP seating for the Tony Orlando show that was set up in the American Adventure. Oh my goodness! This was an amazing time!!!! Almost too indescribable for words, but because I want to tell you all about it, I'll do the best I can! haha...

I think I'm going to put it in a new post because I have so many pictures of it!

Stay tuned! :wave2:

Okay...so I have to ask...where did you get these shirts from? I love that everyones is a little different (like polos for the guys). I am trying to get some "subtle" shirts done so my 17 year old sister will give in and wear them!
Loving the TR so far!

i am hooked! looking forward to more. what a nice looking family!!! and happy anniversary to your grandparents!

haha...that is why are shirts are more "subtle"...we had some trouble convincing the guys at first...but we actually didn't buy the shirts that way...the womens' shirts we bought at Target (i think...either there or walmart) and then the mens shirts we bought at a similar store (perhaps Target as well)? sorry i don't remember exactly....any way, it took us a while to find matching colors for the boys and girls! haha...but we did! then we just gave the shirts to a local tshirt shop and the lady made them for us! we asked her to put the 2008 on there and we also gave her the iron on patches...so it was really simple...my suggestion would be to do the same because the shirts are very cheap and it costs almost nothing to have them made! just find the color you want, find the iron-on that you want, give it to a shop, and PRESTO! pixiedust: you have adorable, subtle shirts! :thumbsup2

oh, and thanks for reading! :goodvibes

:wave2: I'm here :wave2: And on board too..I love the pictures of Epcot and of course my favorite resort on WDW property..the Polynesian. I stayed there in 1980 and haven't stayed on WDW property since. :)

Okay everyone, it's Tony Orlando time! Now before you say anything, let me tell you, I was not looking forward to this part. I didn't really know a whole lot about Tony Orlando except that he sang the "Yellow Ribbon" song...but, as it turned out...IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF THE TRIP! Not THE best, and you'll find out why later...then again, it may have been the best part for my grandparents...and here is why...

this is just a pic of the stage before the show:
61680673.jpg

Then the show was beginning and I actually started to get excited. I mean, I always enjoy a good concert :thumbsup2 Especially if it is at Disney World!!! Not to mention the VIP seating...

Anyway, so Tony comes out and sings a song or two, and I was actually enjoying it. Of course my "older" family members really enjoyed it because he was more of their....lets say, era :rotfl2: So we were having a good time, when all of a sudden, Tony gets done singing his song and says..."So I heard that we have a very special couple in the audience." Ahhhhhhh! Everyone's face lit up and jaws dropped! Was he talking about my grandparents?!!! "Tony and Doris are you here?" OMG! He was talking about them!!!! So they shyly raised their hands and he walked over to our side of the stage. He asked them how many years they had been married and how their lives were going, and what they did for a living...it was like he was just having a conversation in the middle of the concert! It was so cool. He was very nice and down to earth. Needless to say, I very much like the man now ;) Anyway, then....the best part came....HE INVITED THEM ON STAGE!!!! So, my grandpa (being a farmer all his life and in VERY good shape for his age) hopped right on up there...but my grandma needed some help up the stage...so Tony helped her!

61680672.jpg

Then he sat my grandma on a stool...
61680671.jpg

Then he talked to them some more...I'll let the pictures do all the work:
61680670.jpg

61680669.jpg

61680668.jpg

61680667.jpg

So then Tony asked them what song they really liked of his...I can't remember which one it was because I had never heard it before  But anyway....Tony sang it to them!!!

61680666.jpg

61680664.jpg

And then....haha....he held the microphone up to my grandpa so that he could sing to my grandma!!! It was so cute!!!! But lets just say that my grandpa was a little nervous, and um...can't hear very well....so the microphone didn't stay there long....:lmao: But it was so adorable anyway and so romantic...

61680665.jpg

61680663.jpg

Then Tony finished up the song and congratulated them once more....the whole crowd cheered!!! Then he helped them back down the stage...

61680660.jpg

61680658.jpg

But it wasn't over yet! My aunt Marybeth had brought along her really old record (that's right I said RECORD) of one of his albums. So they asked if he would sign it...and by golly that good man did! Of course, it was signed to Tony and Doris, but my aunt was pleased nontheless!

And a final handshake:
61680652.jpg

Then Tony finished his concert and the excitement still flowed through us. After the show, so many people came up to us and congratulated my grandparents. They also told us how jealous they were, and I couldn't help but feeling proud and a little "hoity toity" (see Newsies ;) ).

It was an unforgetable day of an unforgetable week...and I know we will all cherish that moment (and many moments to come) forever...

Stay tuned! EPCOT fireworks are next (VIP viewing location :thumbsup2 )

Great report! Looking forward to more. Your grandparents deserve all that VIP treatment for being married 60 years! That is amazing. :cheer2:

That's so awesome about the Tony Orlando story..and how nice of him to invite your Grandparents on stage :) I've always liked his music too!! But you have some very nice pictures of the event!!

Ahhhhh, that made me cry. Such a wonderful memory to have. You are so lucky!!! Off topic but oh well, my father and grandfather were both farmers. A hard job that a lot of people have no clue about. :) I bet this was a vacation you didn't really want to come home from. Thanks for sharing it with everyone. Have a great semester!

Sadly it is a very underestimated job...it is VERY hard work...and i could have lived at disney forever and have been satisfied :)

So to finally end all the excitement of the day (can you believe all that happened in one day?!), we watched the fireworks from our VIP location.

Prior to that, however, we took a few pictures of the group in front of the ball...

61680634.jpg

Then, while the rest of the group headed to the location, my sister and I RAN to Kringala Bakery so that I could try some school bread!!! I was so excited! However, much to my dismay, when we arrived at the bakery there was a small line...the clock was ticking until firework time...come on people...choose something!!! :rotfl: So finally it was my turn, and I saw that the platter for the school bread was empty!!! Oh no!!! So I asked if they had any more, and low and behold they had just sold the last piece two people in front of me!!!! NOOOOOO!!! I wanted to try it sooo bad :( I know I told the people to pick something...but I didn't mean my school bread!!! :lmao: Oh, well...so it actually made my decision much easier, because I also had wanted to try the sugar free mousse...so that's what I got. My sister decided to buy one of the sweet pretzels (with the almonds). So we paid and then RAN back to our VIP spot. SWEET! It was such a good view. We took some more pictures:

it was really good...

Then it was finally time for the fireworks!

Needless to say, they were wonderful! We don't usually watch the fireworks at EPCOT...but if we had a viewing like we did this time, we certainly would!

I just realized I forgot to post the decorations that we put on the door and windows to our room!
