We stayed a Poly studio the week of March 13th and were disappointed. The service at the front desk was awful...a man from Canada left his passport on the counter and it got misplaced. All CM's were looking for it when I went to the front desk since our Magic Bands didn't open our door initially. It took forever to finally get in our room after getting the Magic Bands to work. We were almost late to our Via Napoli dinner.
The walls seem very thin - we could hear everything next door. The teenage boy arguing on the phone with his girlfriend most nights. While we liked the two bathrooms, the rest of the room's color palette wasn't for me.
We don't think it's worth the point value and likely won't stay again. Looking forward to going back to our Boardwalk home in Oct.!
I have been going to Disney since I was very young and now I am 49. I ALWAYS wanted to stay at the Poly, it was my "dream" lol
We purchased
DVC in 2011. Last year, I had the opportunity to go down one night solo prior to meeting my mom at GFVs so I booked the Poly.
I am SOOO happy I stayed there since I really have no desire to go back again with my family of 4 (kids are adults at 18 and 22) and spend all those
points on a studio (or two). We usually stay two bedroom so NO interest in all being in one room together for everything!
Although my room was ready about 11 am when I arrive (BIG PLUS), I still checked in front desk and got my packet of information.
Went to my room and MBs didn't work (I had Lake View so I was all the way by the TTC). Walked back to front desk (left my luggage by my door).
Fixed the problem and went back again and again, didn't work. OMG. I was on third floor and tried to find any CM I could to please help me.
I ended up finding a DVC room for CMs on the first floor and got a nice guy to help me. It took about 20-25 minutes and we went back to my room
to see if the MBs worked and they did but boy that was a good 90 minutes of just trying to get in my room.
I did like the location but do think the points are too high for what we are getting and I really think it is too dark.
When I got home I showed my family the pictures and my dd said it is nice but looks like it needs to be refurbished LOL She wasn't aware it was new.
I wasn't disappointed like you but I am glad that I did try it so I know I don't need to be there again. I do know that if I didn't have the third floor
I would also have been disappointed. I would certainly not want to be on the first floor and possibly the second.
As Bill said this is another great reason for DVC. There are resorts for all and we are so lucky we can try them out when we want (most of the time

)
